Hi everybody
After putting my surgery off from November till this past monday, I am back home Post OP! I had a 2 night stay. They were afraid I was coming down with Strep, since my husband has it, so they kept me for good measure.
I have to say how irritated I was with the nursing staff. It's like NONE of them knew ANYTHING about my procedure. I was given straws to drink with, asked if I had thrown up, or felt like throwing up, and then was given a hard time when they came to give me 2 darvocet pills for pain! It was a good thing I knew what I could and couldn't do! PLUS, someone from the respiratory dept came to see me and had me use the breathing test, then told me to COUGH! I told them my dr. told me to try not to cough and that I wasn't going to. Ugh.
So, I am home. My doctor, a trauma surgeon, wasn't going to give me anything for my nausea. Needless to say, after telling him, all I usually have to do, is just look at a toilet and I can get sick, finally gave me a rx. YEAH!
So I am home. I have a LOT of pain in my chest. I also had a hiatal hernia repair, that was so big, he had to use a film patch to fix my diaphragm. He said my chest pain is mainly from my diaphragm. My belly feels very full, and I can't take anything but sips of juice/water/hot tea. I have had a bit of cream of chicken soup, some jello and pudding. I can eat about 2 tablespoons, if that. Then I just feel full and not happy. I did smash a 1 1/2 banana and ate that. It tasted yummy!
My daughter comes home from day care in a few hours and I AM SO EXCITED TO SEE HER. I'm hoping she is OK with my not picking her up or playing with her like I usually do.?!?!
How is everyone else doing?
