Stretta is no longer being done by most docs. Curon, the company that manufactured the instrument used in the Stretta procedure, has gone out of business. I read that there are several patient initiated lawsuits. Apparently, some people who had the Stretta procedure, which uses ablation via radio frequency waves, suffered burns to their esophageal tissue.
I am considering having the Esophyx procedure done. It is an endoscopic procedure that is supposed to eliminate/reduce GERD by recreate the valve at the LES. Clinical trials were conducted in Europe. The procedure was recently approved by the FDA. Only 3 centers in the US currently perform this procedure. My Dr. is in NY.
