Omeprazole (Zegerid) and St. John's Wort

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum.  Nice to meet you.

I am a sufferer of GERD and am currently medicated with the PPI Zegerid powder form (40mg Prilosec, 1125mg Sodium Bicarbonate) - instant acid relief on contact via the bicarbonate compound

I have also been suffering a mild - moderate depression for the past year or so and it has gotten much worse in the recent months.

I've read different things on the effects on St. John's Wort's interactions with Omeprazole based reflux perscriptions.  I've read that it MAY reduce the effects of Omeprazole, It GREATLY reduces the effects, and it DOES NOT reduce the effects of Omeprazole.

I am wondering if anyone here suffers from Depression and GERD, and takes an Omeprazole PPI and is also on St. John's Wort?

Any help is appreciated.

I too wonder the same thing that Sherry is wondering, have you tried any anti depressants prescribed by your doctor yet? Are you visiting with a pdoc, or just a family doc?
