Ldyjane, thanks for replying! May be my eating that's caused my problem. But I have done what my surgeon said but i am wondering now if he should have told me different. He told me after that first week to start adding food gradually. Well I thought that's what I did. But I have gradually added everything back. I can eat anything or if I don't eat I still have have heartburn. I lost about 15 lbs and I need to loose about 30 more and i plan too but it is getting harder but your resolve to not gain it back makes me more determined. I guess I am sounding like I'm going around the world in what I'm saying. I am about 6 weeks out from surgery now. I go back to the surgeon next week. I'm wondering if I should go back to eating like I ate the first week. What do you think about that? I am anxious to go back. I'm thinking that this Dr. must have not had enough experience in this. I really believe he left the wrap too loose. If i have to, i will go to a different Dr. But i'm just reaching for straws. I'm so tired of heartburn all the time (almost)

Oh, BF. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. Most of us have the opposite problem...food won't go down. Am I wrong when I assume this?, but are you saying that you're not much better than you were before the surgery?

You know, you've made a lot of progress eating-wise...you may want to stop all acid producing foods....but, if I remember correctly, didn't you say that non-acid foods give you heartburn too? I don't think that soft, mushy foods are the answer. You know what, I'm out of my league here and I don't want to confuse everything for you. I guess, I would be trying something though....just so that when you go back to the Dr. you can tell him you tried.

I certainly would have a lot of questions for the Dr. and I would (not saying you should mind you) but I would think twice before having the same Dr. do my surgery again. Saying that (and it is just my opinion), you should let him figure this out...that means more tests for you, but he should be trying to figure out why you're having this problem. What day is your appointment? Please make sure you keep us informed!

Good Afternoon to All.

Well here I am 5 weeks post op.  Things are going good.  I am able to eat regular food, well trial and error.  Somethings just do not agree  smhair and up they come.  But I feel alot better and am back at work.  turn 25 pounds lighter but hey that is a plus for me.  The shoulder pain has gone at 2 weeks but appeared the past 2 days.  weird but that is life.  Just take tylneol and all is well.  Lettuce nono is a absolute no go by the way.  I hope you are all well and in good health. yeah

LydJane, you are right about the heartburn. I still have it so much of the time. I can't say its any better. I haven't really had any swallowing problems although sometime it hurts kinda at the base (i think ) of my esophagus, probably from eating too fast or too much. That has always been a problem for me, eating too fast or too much. i'm trying to do better. i have tried to cut down on acid causing foods today. i'll see by night if its helped . i go back to Dr. Thursday the 4th of Sept. i'll let you hear what he says. I did try Heldi, that someone on here had suggested, just 4 days, and I didn't see any difference. I had ordered 4 bottles to try so i didn't order any more. Thanks

Schell! We've missed you! I started back to work just this morning, but I'll be 1/2 time for two weeks. I'm still not eating fresh fruits or vegetables, I was told to hold off for several months; I'm just shy of 6 weeks, but only 4 weeks from the dilation.

I have to say, I'm lovin the weight loss! The 15 pounds I lost after surgery but me at my goal, like you eating is hit or miss, but I'm happy to say that hitting is getting to be more common than missing! Perhaps, I've just learned to eat the way I'm supposed to (incredibly small bites to chew the living daylights out of haha!) and the right kind of foods. I'll tell you though, Ritz crackers are sometimes my best friend. I tolerate crackers much better than noodles or potatoes! who knew??? Those items almost guarantee a quick trip to the bathroom...they just won't go through the new valve!

Have you read Bestfriends posts? She is really struggling with continued heartburn and I'm very concerned! BF, let us know what the Dr. says. BTW, where are you and where did you have your surgery done???

Thank you so much for missing me.  Okay, I can tell you DO NOT try french Bread.  Oh my goshhhhhhhh. talk about suffering. 

Bestfriend,  My doctor (who is really good and cute devil   told me if I get heartburn use Mylanta.  I have not had to use it but you should try.  can not hurt.

Thanks! I have used Maalox (didn't help)but havent tried Mylanta but I will. LdyJane i live in North Alabama and had my surgery in Huntsville, Al

Oh, I forgot to ask you, do fitted clothes bother you? They really do me even if they are loose as my cloths have gotten looser. I havent even tried blue Jeans.

Has your doctor thought about anapholactic(sp?) shock? When your throat closes up from an
allergic reaction to a medication or food? My brother had this a couple of years ago and it
was serious. Also, for GERD, when I took the drug, Protonix, it went away after 3-4 days
of taking it. 40mg/day. Everything opened up (My throat was pretty closed, too, before),
and I could eat anything without any pain at all. Funny, I just posted about this on another
page.

Hi Kitty, we do start to repeat ourselves!!! I'm glad it's not just me :)

BF, yes, clothes bothered me, really irritated my abdominal area and one person here completely stopped wearing a bra...for something like 5 weeks because it bothered her so badly. This passed for me around the 3 week mark or so; maybe a little longer. Now they don't bother me at all.

I bought a cuddle-duds 1 piece thing with the bra built in; that was much more comfortable than a conventional one; from there I transitioned to my regular bras. You can find them at Kohls, Younkers, Macy's, any place like that.

Now, with the final weight loss, I'm in a size 8 or 10 and very happy about that!
