Hi Everyone,

Was going to post this in one of the "Updates" areas, but feel it needs more attention - as I've noticed there are next to no "I'm feeling so much better!" posts.

First off, it's well documented and mentioned on this forum that certain medication and treatments do not work for everyone. Period. I recognise this, as you all need to note when reading online medical forums in general.

For at least 2.5 years I had GERD and an ulcer; was on Nexium for almost all of it, varying between 20 and 40mg's, watching my diet, having to sleep on one side only, generally taking care of myself 24/7 on the constant avoidance of flare-ups.

My Doctor and I tried tried ONE course of Pariet; which on a single prescription equals x2 boxes of around 24 pills (much smaller in size than Nexium, hooray!). Post taking the full course my symptoms dissapeared over the course of about a week following.

That was over three months ago.

Today? I have zero stomach issues. Zero pain, chest discomfort, reflux, can sleep on either side at night, and no constant up-bubbling of gas. I sit here typing this with a Pure Blonde at my side (an Australian beer, for those not in the know :) and have just finished a very large meal of lasagna.

So please - next time you visit the doctor? Ask him or her about Pariet, and what it can do for you, and whether it's in your best interest to try it. I just wish I'd found it earlier.

Pariet is the same medicine sold in the USA as Aciphex and in all the other major pharmaceutical markets around the world.

Aciphex, is  a drug used for treating ulcers of the stomach and duodenum, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). It is a PPI medication.

Again thank you for your success story, it is good to hear you are doing well. :)

I had a very similar experience, too. My GI doc started me on pantaloc (pantoprazole sodium) and tried it for a month with no success. He switched me to pariet (rabeprazole sodium) and the burning has been reasonably good since. Only glitch for me was that pariet was not on my insurance pharmacy formulary and needed a special letter from my doc to have it subsidized.

I learned at my pharmacy today (in Canada) that pariet (rabeprazole sodium) is now considered "generic" as of February 23, 2009. My normal $95 prescription (before insurance) now costs $67. I'm not sure how patenting works in other countries and if others will be similar but glad to see that the cost of this medication has gone down for me by almost 30%!

That is great news for you. I am overwhelmed sometimes when I pick up my meds as this time of year my yearly co-pay needs to be met and when I go to pick up meds and they say 349, I am hoping they mean $3.49, wrong = $349.00.

I say be gone with you devils............I need a vacation some day.

I pay $38 for a month supply of my daughter's Prevacid at Target Pharmacy. Is this too much?

I tried switching from Nexium to Pariet- big mistake.

Pariet is at the bottom of the list for me (below somac), but hey if it works for you then that is great!

Picked up my refill today and after insurance paid net $12 for a 1-month 40mg daily (ie twice the normal dose). Just 2 months ago in December that same prescription cost me $105 (partly because I had reached my insurance limit before the ned of the year)!

I have no side effects with Pariet. I tried Pantaloc first but it just didn't cut it for me.
