Biopsied my Esophagus...?

Hi everyone... I am a GERD patient who takes 40mg of Pariet daily (max dosage). Everything is generally under control. But after a couple of months with bad dysphagia and some mild weight loss I finally had my upper endoscopy today. Unlike last time I did this one sedated and I asked the doctor to PLEASE speak with me afterwards becuase I needed to know if he saw anything bad (ie - espphagheal cancer). Been really stressed about the swallowing problems.

Well after the procedure I woke up in recovery with a progress report that bascially said everything was fine. Of course the doctor had left the building. But according to my report they did take 2 biopsies from the middle and 2 from the distal (bottom). My question is if nothing appeared abnormal why would they do biopsies on my esophagus anyways?

Most probably he found polyps. I had a biopsy too and it was benign, it was also from my esophagus. Try not to worry and just wait to get the actual results. I think if it was really urgent your dr would have talked to you.

When I had my endoscopy I couldn't remember anything after I woke up. My husband drove me home and I remember waking up at home, that was it. He said I was awake and talking at the hospital but I honestly don't recall any of that....I had a good coctail mix!

Thanks Precious... I am always so paranoid and the worst hypochondriach. FYI the copy of the "Esophagogastroduodenoscopy Procedure Report" that they gave me said "the endoscope was passed with ease through the mouth under direct visualization and advanced to the 2nd portion of the duodenum. The scope was withdrawn and mucosa was carefully examined. Retroflexion was perfoemed. Impression is that this is a functional smptom globus sensation. Normal esophagus". The pictures look very nice. :)

I am having an endoscopy on Tuesday along with a colonoscopy. Never had either done before. If you have a polyp in the esophagus is it painful?  I have  had discomfort in the upper part of the esoph. and when I take a deep breath I feel discomfort  and sometimes pain on the right side of my neck next to my throat where my gland is. Nothing is swollen. I have had this sensation for several months, right before I had my gallbladder out and pretty much since the surgery.  I am taking Nexium to see if that would correct the problem and it seemed to subside after 2 weeks but now it is back again.  Seems like the Nexium isn't doing the job after all.  Does any of this sound familiar with reflux?  I am so scared that it is something worse.

it's probably just to make sure that they aren't cancerous. also, maybe they were big. at my last endoscopy, my doctor took out just the biggest polyps (they weren't cancerous) and left the rest of them (he said there were alot of little ones) until they grew more.
