Naturopath's for GERD - anyone tried one?

I am looking for a naturopath to heal my GERD.  Has anyone ever tried one, and have any success?  And if so, why not?  I've talked to quite a few who say they can help.  What do you have to lose?  The drs' can't really help me, the naturopaths try all sorts of things to figure it out and get to the bottom of it.  At least they are willing to try.

Anyone?

Hello and Welcome to HealingWell and the GERD/Heartburn Forum.  I have seen people post on the boards re  naturopaths and if this is what you feel you want to try I think you should go ahead and do so.

On HealingWell we strive to seek a balance between alternative and traditional approaches. I feel strongly, both approaches have value for anyone seeking healing.

i saw a naturopath a few times and i noticed in a short amount of time the acupuncture gave me some relief from heartburn ... unfortuately, it is now an expense i cant afford. but i would say give it a shot - they deal with the whole being - seeing that illnesses are born from our spirit not so much our bodies - i tend to agree with that somewhat.

I also am seeing a Naturopath. She is doing some really great things for me.  It is a wonderful alternative from traditional meds. I do not tolerate meds very well and would rather not put them in my body if I don't have to.  She gave me all natural food pills to calm down my IBS and it really is helping.
She will be treating my GERD and other issues also.  I wish you health and well being as you take this alternative path.

I am in New Jersey, but what I could do for you is ask my Dr. to give me info regarding other Drs. who practice her type of methods and who use the same supplements that she does.  What state are you in?  Let's start there. I know that there is help out there for you. Also I might add that insurance usually does not cover this type of treatment.  But to me it is worth the little extra expense to feel well, and I am tallking only hundreds of dollars, not thousands.

Hey you guys i just found this awesome new product from Dr. Nor**** that helped my husband get rid of his GERD. Its all natural and organic so it won't hurt you.
He's been suffering from GERD for a couple of years now and nothing seemed to help. A friend of ours told us about Dr. Nor****'s Hearburn Honey and gave us half a tube she had and it worked wonders!
Its also pretty inexpensive compared to all the other medication we had tried.

To the person answering about the naturopath:  I live in Massachusetts, but would travel if I had to or work over the phone.  How bad is your GERD?  Mine is pretty bad, and I've tried alot of natural stuff already on my own, DGL, probiotics, digestive enzymes, aloe, etc.  Nothing helps.  But I will not give up looking.  What kinds of treatments does she do? Or supplements?

I will check with my Dr. to see if she knows of anyone in Mass. or even give some advice on what she could recommend that you could take. It isn't something that you can really treat over the phone. I will do what I can to help you.  Stay posted.

My GERD was really just diagnosed 2 days ago. I don't really feel the symptoms of it, like heartburn.  It is a very quiet reflux that evidently is affecting the lower third of my esophagus due to a hiatus hernia.  I was going to my Naturopath for IBS symptoms until I found out how extensive my gut situation is. All I can say is that in about 2 weeks my IBS pain has gone.  I have been taking Nexium!
