Just comin back to give yall an update on my Fundo Experience.

I can only say one thing so far... lifesaver. I havent had one lick of heartburn or reflux since the day before the surgery. I've given my entire anti-reflux/heartburn arsenal to friends and family and am now able to eat anything i want, including spicy foods, steaks, whatever.

I was able to eat full solids without a problem about 1 month after the procedure.

My stomach still does get upset every once in awhile but is absolutely NOTHING compared to the pain and discomfort that my reflux was giving me prior to surgery... it's a walk in the park. And, it can get as angry as it wants to, i know nothing's coming up :D

Only one bad thing has happened.. this past weekend i got hit with a stomach flu to rival the best of them.

I spent about 12 hours running into the bathroom every half our to go through the motions only to have nothing come out. I wanted nothing more than to just be able to get something out. Eventually it all came out, but not the end it was trying to at first...if ya know what i mean. It was pure hell. I finally got my hands on some anti-nausea meds and took a shower and was able to stop dry heaving.

it's now a day later and my stomach muscles and mid section are so sore it feels like i got jumped in a dark alley. Sure, that sucked beyond beleif, but i'll still take that over the life-sucking symptoms i experienced with heartburn and reflux pre-surgery.

I wouldnt trade it for anything!

I thought I had damaged my first wrap doing this same thing twice. Turns out mine was done wrong from the start, but that's another story. I'm glad the surgery has helped you. It's good to see someone with positive results posting. As we have all read all over the net, it seems nobody has had a Nissen that worked. We all also know that to be false, but it is the impression most people seem to get. I try to do my part to let it be known there are people very happy they had this surgery.
I am glad it has a very positive effect on your life. It has mine also. Make sure to kep some of the anti nausea meds on hand. I also carry some in my truck, just in case I am away from home and it hits me. I am very gun shy about dry heaves. Especially now that I am healing from a redo.

So glad to hear you're doing so well...and that you weathered your bout with a stomach bug. That must have been really scary. It sounds like your wrap made it through the stress of dry heaves without creating any problems, so that's great news!

You'll want to be sure you keep nausea meds handy at all times. You won't want to go through that again! This forum taught me the importance of having anti nausea meds on hand. I have some in my purse, and pack it whenever I travel.

I'm really glad to hear that your recovery is going so well. Hopefully people struggling over their decision regarding the surgery, will read your post and be reassured.

I'm glad u r great.I am as well,if you read a few other posts. My stomach is sore but I will be fine.my greatest joy,is going to sleep without choking,aspirating and wheezing.thank god,no nite gerd 24hours 7days a week.I got the monkey off my back.glad to hear ya well.how much weight did u lose?

Hi Keith, Like Bill, I thought I had damaged my repair, it turns out that I didn't. It took 4+ months for my body to recover from that little bout of nastiness, but I finally did. In the 4 months though, I have been back to Cleveland, had 3 more barium swallows, 24 hr impedance manometry (which is different than a 24 hr ph), a gastric emptying study and 2 scopes!

The end result is that my wrap is beautifully intact, I'm finally feeling okay and it turns out the PPI was causing a lot of my symptoms...I am, however, hiccuping whenever I eat or drink anything. I may have damaged the vagus nerve when I got sick, but this should heal on its own (in its own sweet time too!).

Well thanks for posting everyone. Glad to hear that you guys are also doing well.

I kept meaning to find out what I should have on hand should I ever encounter nauseau but never got around to it... OOPS! What a mistake that was. Luckily I got some towards the end that seem to get me over the hump..

It's called Zofran and they're little pills that dissolve under your tongue..

What do you carry/recommend?

Hi Keith,
My surgeon also ordered Zofran for me. It seems to be a very convenient anti nausea drug. My family doc ordered Compro suppositories, but it seems to me that when you're having nausea, the Zofran is the quicker route.

The main thing is that you have them on hand--just in case!

Glad you weathered your nausea episode without problems.
