Endoscopy Scope with no sedation

Just had the scope done.

I am scared of sedation, so I refused it.

Anyone else want to share there experience?

I def. gagged, so, so bad, many, many times.

But there wasnt any pain besides that.

Allot of burping when he blew my stomach up with air.

Once he gets to your stomach the gagging stops.

It really wasnt that bad, and if I had to get it done again, I wouldnt take the sedation.

It took like 5 mins.. Tops

Yeah, they gave me one little spray in the troat. Didnt do anything though...

Sounds to me he is scared of sedation so braver might not be the word haha! Joking asside that would suck without sedation for me because I gag easily.

I had my last endoscopy without sedation also. Really, it wasn't a big deal. I knew I could do it, because the one I'd had before was with very little sedation, and I was awake the entire time. I think if you're awake enough to help swallow the tube, it's not as hard on your throat. You're right...it's a pretty short procedure. I had a great nurse who talked me through the breathing. I'd definitely do it again without sedation.

For those who are worrying about the procedure...don't worry! If you need sedation go for it. If Motox and I can survive without any sedation at all, think of how easy it will be with sedation. Relax!
