bummedbyGERD,
If you also have a hiatal hernia and the gerd does not subside you need to check out the Nissen surgery. The main thing is to try all other treatments and if surgery needed you need to find a bariatric surgeon that has preformed load and I do mean load of these by laproscopic surgery. Also make sure he can do a loose wrap and does the loose wrap regularly.
Most of the problems come from not having a good bariatric surgeon and the wrap is too tight.
Mine has been a breeze and no problems so far.
After surgery just make sure you eat small meals often. 1/2 to 1 cup at a time. This worked for me and I did not have the gas pains so many complain about. The one time I ate more than a cup I did have gas pains. Stay on the liquid diet until the surgeon says to go to regular meals. Mine put me on full liquid (not clear liquid) after I got out of the hospital.
Oatmeal counts as a full liquid and it really is what I lived on.
Best of luck on finding something to help you. Let us know what happens
