Good Morning All,

Barb, you are right on, Wisconsin and MN are both beautiful states if we just did not have to have the temperature in the minus factor windchills.  I have been to upstate New York as well and it was beautiful. 

Janice, Hoping your day will be awesome today and that you  receive only good news.  Lots of hugs and support to you.

Denise,  Glad to hear you were out and enjoying the day yesterday with your family.  I love to spend time with my family.  It always makes me feel good. Hugs to you for more family days.

Bill,  You will be "On the Road Again" soon.  Then you can share your vacations with all of us.

Hope you start feeling better Janice. It is bad enough to have to go through the pain of recovery without the knowledge of what my team did to me. Yes I am a Philadelphia Eagles fan. and am having a hard time reconcilling the fact that Vick is on our roster. I guess everyone seserves a second chance but as most of you can tell by my screen name I love dogs. There are 3 crimes that I just can not deal with and think the judicial system is way to lenient on them. They are injury or abuse of the elderly, injury or abuse of children and injury or abuse of animals. Oh well will get off my soapbox for now time to get some more rest think I have been up too long today. Was having computer problems earlier finally had to shut the whole system down. Will talk to yoiu all later

An interesting statistic Mary; an AOL poll showed that of the people who voted in the Vick return to the NFL poll, some 79% of Men approved while only 21% of women! I think you would find that football fan not withstanding, the average person did not want to see him get a second chance. Studies prove that people who abuse children start out abusing animals.

Well, listen, I'm feeling pretty darn lousy lately; hopefully a day or two will find me doing better.

Mary, I'm with you. I love the furry little things and I have two of them my self. I'm not a foot ball fan but if I was I wouldn't want him on my team. My hubby loves football the Packers of course and he doesn't think he deserves a second chance.

Yup, my doc did tell me that the Maalox can cause diarrhea...it's not really a problem. I don't really take it that often or that much. A little swallow now and then, to coat my wrap or that delicate stomach of mine. I've never tried Gavascon. You like it a lot? The last few days I've had no dumping, and tonight at dinner I started grumbling. Oh well...whatever!

Glad you enjoyed beautiful upstate/Central New York! I do love it here. So green and hilly. The Finger Lakes are really pretty, too. We've got lots of lakes. Where we're moving is still near the Finger Lakes area, but we'll be about a mile from Lake Ontario/Irondequoit Bay, which is also very pretty. We're still waiting to hear from the buyers as to when the bank appraiser will be visiting. Hope it's soon, so we can move forward with our builder. We're just waiting for all the "t's" to be crossed, and the "i's" to be dotted. The agent says it's a done deal, but it ain't over 'till it's over!

Family days are the best! We're lucky our sons live in the same area, so they can say close. My younger son is going up in the morning to help my older son put in a paver patio. Our younger son is the handier of the two--he's the one who redid our landscaping, and now he's off to help his big brother. My older son's wife has a sister and brother who've moved into the same area, and they're all close--having Sunday dinners together, etc. It's really nice for them all.
We're looking forward to having a home base a bit closer to them.
Well, off to get ready for beddy...

That's exciting Denise to be moving to such a pretty place near the water. I live about and hour from Lake Michigan. It reminds me of the Ocean. With me it only takes a swallow of the Malox and I get the diarrhea. I'm glad it works for you though when you need it. Barb

         I sure wish you were feeling better...it pains me that your not.

I just want you and everyone else her to know that accepting me , and forgiving me has been one of the most beautiful gifts that anyone has ever given me. I feel stupid for being childish before but I am human and  a sinner and  thank God you all could see the pain, not just physical but emotional. I really thank God for all of you and your love and compassion for each other and for me is wonderful !!

I am so happy that you will have your boys closer to you soon.  I love to get together with my kids and grandkids.  The tough part is the one that lives in Oregon.  With 3 young kids it is hard for them to get to MN so I have gone out there and spent time with them but there are days I cry for what I am missing.

It is awfully nice you have a handiman in the family.  Mine is my hubby.

Thanks for the good wishes, as always. Yes, we're lucky to live pretty close to our kids. They both settled just about an hour from home. Many of my friends have kids who moved far away, and I feel for them, as I do you. It's hard to miss special moments in their lives. I'm sure you keep in touch with your Oregon family...it's a beautiful state, so I can understand why they'd like to live there. It's good that you can go visit them...what a beautiful place to visit. I've no doubt that you're a special and well-loved grandma!

I didn't know what a big football fan you are! Football isn't my bag...the games go on and on. I'm more of a basketball fan...actually, I enjoy baseball--so much for my comment about endless games. My family enjoy football, so I join in with the party, but it's not my favorite. I try!

Hope you're feeling better today. I've been off working in my classroom. They finally let some of us get in...the school doesn't look like it'll ever be ready by the first day of school! I'll be back to school tomorrow...there is so much to be done! My TA came in to help me today, but I don't expect to see her again until the first day of school. For the first time ever, we're starting school before Labor Day. It's just not done!

Anne, we accept every one the way they are here. I don't know of anything wrong you did, but whatever it's in the past. We all have our moments as anyone here would tell you. That is what is so awesome about this forum and the people here. I'm glad you've joined us here.

Kitt, I know what you mean about the soda. My sisters know if they make me laugh with food or drink in my mouth they are going to get showered. They tease me about it. Remember when Barb had a mouth full of..............and spewed it all over. tongue Bea is very funny. she has made me laugh more than once. I under stand the long distance grandma family thing too. That's why grandma Barb joined this century and got a phone with a camera and the ablility to get pics of the grandkids. Woohoo! My phone was 5 years old and didn't take pics or even have speaker phone. I understand that is standard now. Lol. The hard part is when you visit and the little ones cry when you have to leave. That breaks a grandma's heart. cry I only have two furry grandchildren that live 30 miles from me and the human ones(the most precious) are 1200. Oh well it could be further.

Denise, I'm with you. Not a football fan at all. Hope all is going well with the house and getting ready for school.

I had my first appointment yesterday with the oncologist with mixed results. He seems to be thorough, kind, thoughtful, very knowledgable, on the front line; all good things, but he didn't feel he had enough information to complete his decision making.

I did not have sentinel node mapping, as it was, my surgeon found a node while doing the mastectomy which came back negative. He is not comfortable with this and is going back to her for discussions; he would like to see ancillary node disection, but we'll see.

For some reason, he only received the path reports from the mastectomy, not from the WEB nor the core biopsy; I'm faxing those to him as well as copy of the blood work. My family history makes my case very complicated too, so our feeling was that he needed a lot more data before making his final decisions on treatment.

The online adjuvant tool that they use for predicting relapse gave me a score of 18 and it clearly showed that aromatase inhibitors would give me far better results than chemo, BUT (don't you hate that word sometimes!!) but, that was predicated on sentinel node mapping which I didn't have.

So, the long and the short of this is, he is going to talk to my surgeon and see what her thinking was; I'm faxing him the other reports today (because I have them and it's easier and faster) He wants to study the genetics involved (even though I am BRCA negative), and he is probably going to go with oncotype testing anyway. He told us that he has seen it before where it comes back with a differing opinion than the online tool, and in my case, it's a smart way to go.

Next appointment isn't for 6 weeks..why?, I don't know, but there you have it! Kind of incomplete, isn't it!!!

Still feeling rather un-perky, queasy and not sleeping; I'm going to meet with a friend who is a psychologist on Friday, maybe she can help me put all of this into some order.

You've been through a lot! You've got a lot on your mind...as hard as you try to keep a positive attitude and go with the flow, it's stressful. What a good idea to talk to somebody about YOU...not your condition. There's no doubt that your worries can have an impact on your stomach and overall feeling of well being.

We're all here for you, to offer support and encouragement, but you're going solo as far as this experience goes. Even with your wonderful and supportive husband, it's definitely a plus for you to have someone to talk about things. There are things you might hesitate to discuss with anyone else...I can only go by how I'd feel in your place. I'm sure I'd have some secret places that I would have difficulty sharing with my family, since I wouldn't want them to worry or think I was overreacting.

Good luck with the oncologist. It's so frustrating that the sentinel node mapping wasn't done. Isn't it always the way? Don't worry, I'm sure they'll figure out the very best course of action.

Denise, I grew up with 5 brothers. I love basketball , baseball , boxing ,hockey etc. I however am hoping the NY CHICKS (Knicks) do something good this year. I am an avid fan of boxing thanx to my dad taken all of us to the golden gloves every year. I love a good knockdown but then I worry abot the knockdown.Will they have neuro issues? Is he blind? etc. I always worry about the beat up gy so I cheer for no one. Does that make sense? LOL

Every 1 else, hope  are all well. Lets give extra prayers and luk to Janice!!

I am so sorry you are still sitting there with no actual plan in place.  I understand your frustration.  I wish you did not have to wait 6 weeks for your next appointment as the waiting is so very difficult.

I am glad you are meeting with your friend who can help you talk about your feelings. 

Chronic Illness and Depression go hand in hand. Depression is a natural part of dealing with a chronic illness. When your body is challenged physically, it often times  challenges the affects of your brain chemicals which can lead to depression. Not to mention that with a chronic illness you are  dealing with an avalanche of new experiences both physical and emotional and that can affect your  emotional health.

Depression is an illness in itself and combined with other medical issues makes for a truly challenging situation.

Psychological studies show that your mind and your body are strongly linked. If your physical health declines, it can make you feel mentally "down." A positive outlook can help keep you healthy.

I am so glad you are being proactive and talking with your friend.  This is about you so let out your feelings and please know I am right here thinking of you.

Bill, you and everyone else says everything perfectly! You understand this...what I've received from everyone here has sustained me, surprised me, amazed me and humbled me. I've said many times, that the members of ths forum are special and each day everyone proves me right by the posts that are on all the different topics.

I'm having a difficult time right now, I may be looking at an additional surgery, maybe chemo, the pain hasn't stopped since the surgery, and who knows what else! There are times when it just seems more than you can manage, and then you come here and you are surrounded by the wonderful people who lift you up.

So, I truly mean what I say when I express my love and caring for you, Bea, Barb, Denise, Mary, Anne, Kitt, PALady, Joy and everyone else. I hope you all know that you have made a difference in my life and how much I appreciate it.

Hi friends! I came home early today, just am feeling very tired. I have my appointment tomorrow at noon with the psychologist, I'm hoping for good things, after that I have to have a bone density and chest x-ray.

Tom is at a golf tournament for a few days with some of my cousins and I've got the house to myself. Yesterday I found that I have a visitor in the house, and it's leaving little treasures...yuchh! So today, on the way home from work, I stopped in town and picked up 2 mouse traps...I sure hope I get it. If it's outside I don't touch it, it's their home, but once it comes inside....I take no prisoners.

I learned something from one of Bills posts, bile induced diarrhea; ever since my nissen and gallbladder removal, well you can guess. It has gotten much worse over the last few months and I've suspected gallbladder related, but now that I've got a name, I've been able to do some research and yep, fits me to a T. When I talked to my GI, about the stuff last winter and spring, he did another colonoscopy and EGD, took biopsies, ruled out infections and cancer and colitis..so I think maybe Bill has helped me out here. I'm going to check with my family doc when I see him in September.

They're taking the drain out next Tuesday; I'm still not even close to the levels that they want when they would normally remove drains, but my doc says it has to come out at 5 weeks...what happens after that is anyone's guess.

Haven't heard back from the oncologist yet, don't know when I will..

My dear friend, I wish I had let you know about the bile diarrhea sooner. It is HORRIBLE. I have had a better time with it since my rdo. I think that has to do with me eating better though. Some doctors say it will go away on it's own when your body adjusts to to gall bladder. My GI says it won't completely and I will suffer from it forever. That is when I took her advice and tried the Questran. Ina couple days All was better. Some times you have to take it 2xs a day. I got away with once a day. The Colestid I also got away with once a day, but did use it 2xs if things were getting out of wack. I used the Questran first thing in the morning when I got home from work. I was told to take it before meal, but this worked better for me and I think it is because wouldn't eat after work and I just went to bed. So it would grab up all the bile I was dumping in my intestine.
Oh, I was also lucky enough to have a PCP that sat me down and explained how it worked because it is a cholesterol med. He said they found out Qestran and Colestid bind with bile in your system and since we don't have control over whe it gets dumped in the intestine this absorbs all th extra bile and regulates us again. He also explained how to stop diarrhea when you have a stomach bug. It's the same principal. When you eat and the food hits your stomach the gall bladder is told to squeeze bile in the small intestine. Well if you vomit no food binds with the bile and it causes bile induced diarrhea. He doesn't treat the diarrhea, he treats the vomiting to keep some food in there to absorb the bile and the diarrhea goes away. Magic huh!?
Anyway, get some and I am sure you will feel better in that department anyhow. If you are anything like me if I can stay off the throne multiple times a day I am feeling better already.
Please be careful returning to work. I wish I could send a magic spell your way to remove your pain. You are one tough lady and I still admire your strength and courage. You have inspired many here and I am sure you have inspired many around you at home too. I am still praying the dranage stops and hope the need for chemo isn't founded. I know you will meet this latest test head on and whip it's butt! yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah

I am off to lay down, getting very sore and i have to wait another 4 1/2 hours for more pain meds.
