Thanks, as always, for you kind words. Yes...Christmas is where the heart is, right? We'll find a way to celebrate! That would be funny! A family picture in front of a department store tree! Love it!

Today I called my GI doc and canceled my colonoscopy that was scheduled for Monday. Last night my wrap was bothering me...sometimes it's irritated, and actually wakes me up. A swallow of water and a bit of Maalox makes it all better. I started worrying that the "nothing by mouth" after midnight might be quite impossible if my wrap started complaining and I couldn't have water or Maalox. No thanks.

I had a colonoscopy 5 years ago, and had no problems discovered. I have no risk factors. I was all set to have it done in 10 years. The only reason he ordered the test was that I'm new to his practice, and he want's to see for himself! I decided last night when I was in discomfort that I'd call and cancel. There's no rush. Hopefully I'll feel better with a few more months of recovery under my belt. I don't really think it's a big rush anyway. Sometimes I wonder...his office owns the endoscopy center, so ordering a colonoscopy makes money for the practice at a lot of levels...
I can't say I'm not happy I don't have to spend the day prepping...that's not why I canceled, though. I was ready for it, but just had second thoughts. At least when I had the 24 hour PH monitor without PPI's and with active GERD. I could drink water to soothe myself. I'll get the colonoscopy...just after I've given myself time to heal.

I think you made the right decision too.

With no risk factors it doen't really make that much sense unless you are over fifty right?

Is that the age they say to have one done if you havent already isnt it?? Hope you feel better soon. You are a very caring and giving person, you deserve to feel really good!!

I support your decision. They are only guide lines and technically your guide lines aren't met yet anyway. It's bad time for you and if they don't understand that too bad, Remember they work for you. We must always remember that. I have to go setup another EGD for the Barretts follow up. Of course they want me to do it around the middle of December. ThinkI am going to through them a screwball and do it in early November instead. I am going to make my appointment for the office visit early next week and might even try to get it done early next month instead. Easier for me before my hunting season starts and softball if winding down.

We got my xray appointment for Monday to fid that dang stone again. Then go in Friday to blast it and remove the Stent. Oh how much fun this is going to be. I was originally told I could go back to work as tolerated, but after the ordeal at the hospital when they tried to check me out they said I am to not go to work and if it starts to bother me sit/lay down with my feet up and don't move. Kind of hard to do that while changing blades and such on the slicers. Oh well, another week without being able to do squat.

hey bill,

ny has been storming so I didnt go anywhere other then 5minutes away to my daughters house so she can go for her follow up.I watched the baby. I came  home and cooked london broil in gravy, redskinned garlic REAL mashed potaoes, corn biscuits and a salad using my brothers tomatoes. I ate only the steak(very small) and a latel big spoon of ths pataters as my granny wud say paaataters. It was good.Now im so full im just layin on the bed listening to the rain hit my air conditioner. What a beuatiful sound.

I hope all is well. Denise I agree, Its not like you have any symptoms .You only live once so live.

Hey there sweetie, hello this fine Sunday morning.  I hope you are not getting torrential rain out your way.

You are a wonderful Mom and Grandma too.  How sweet of you to go out in the stormy weather and make sure your daughter was able to keep her Doctor's appointment.

Yes Denise, there is a Santa Claus................. and Christmas is wherever your family is so I know yours will be wonderful.  Whenever you can catch a picture of your family always grab the opportunity.  :-)

I agree canceling your appointment was the right thing to do at this time.  If you are having issues with your wrap it is a good idea to let that problem cool off first. If you cannot take your maalox you would be feeling pretty awful my Monday.  You have been extremely busy this summer and you may be exhausted by all you have been doing.

Give yourself permission to be good to you and no regrets over your decision to cancel.

I agree there are times when I have put on the brakes when my Doctor orders something and it is a high cost ticket I will just say no, not at this time. Our hospital and clinic owns the physical and sports medicine clinic too. 

I hope you will be feeling better soon and no problems needing maalox. 

Remember I am keeping an eye on you so you best take care of you or I might show up on your doorstep dressed like an elf........................OH my a big elf.  yeah

I agree you made the correct decision, Denise. Got to give the body a chance to heal completely. So you are doing the right think by listening to what your body is telling you to do.

I'm really glad I made the decision to wait a bit. I'm six months post op, but things aren't completely settled yet, and I think I need some more time. If it was a repeat because of a problem they found 5 years ago, it would be a different story. I'd just have to suck it up and go through with it. Thankfully, that's not the case.

We'll be looking at some apartments tomorrow...also meeting with someone who does house sales on Thursday, to see about having her run a sale at our house. We'll be getting rid of quite a bit of stuff. It'll be interesting to see how she does it. We'll have a mixture of things we're sell and things we're not.

We just had a piano tuner over to tune our piano, which we'll be selling as well. I offered it to our kids, but they're not interested. No kids yet...wait'll they have a sweet little girl who wants to learn how to play piano! Oh well...Craig's List, here we come!

Hopefully I'll be able to get into school sometime this week to start getting my classroom ready. That'll be a job and a half!

Hi Guys,

The best is my hubby rolled his eyes @ me while in the supermarket. The cases of pepsi were 5 12 can cases for $9.98. Maxium allowed 5. I made him wait behind me with the other 5. He siad "this is ridiculous" No way I do it with the cereals paper towels and toilet paper!! LOL

I ben watching the lil league series as our boys are in the world series . Go staten island and yes I been watchin the games with the pepsi.

Hi Guys,

 I ve been running back and forth to the dr. I went to the GI.He told me to start Align the probiotic pill. He gave me a 7day supply. He said I have IBD.He said "STOP SMOKIN" (reason for the sour taste acid etc) He says I can spare to lose 5 more  pounds? I am 162 I am 5ft 7in and am big bone woman. I said listen, Im not tryna be in calvin klein posters,commercials or on top model. I lost 37 pounds.

I get weekly b12 shots from  my primary.I just got a bloodwork up to see how the b12 is going. He says I have CFS.

Hopefully i will be better

Bea, we've missed you so much!!! I bought Philips colon health probiotic, that has made me feel better and it doesn't cost as much as the others. Did you have your gallbladder out? I've learned from Bill and from subsequent research, that what I thought was IBD may actually be bile induced diarrhea.

Sorry, but I have to agree with doc, as much as you probably love smoking, we love you more! and want you to stay around for a long time. I'm 5'6 (even though the Dr. says I'm shorter and I refuse to think that I've started to shrink already!!) and I weigh 155. I can wear between a 8 (stretchy) and a 10 regular; it's a comfortable weight for me, but I'm not big-boned either.

You're missed Bea! Get better! we need you!!
