Well, I've been going to acupuncture twice a week for about
1 month now. the treatment includes the needles and herbs which I brew at home and take twice a day. the herbs are key, as she plays around with the types of herbs she gives you, depending on how you are doing that week.
I've recently been diagnosed with Achalasia, which, for those of you unfamiliar, is a rare disorder where the LES won't open up sufficiently for food to pass through.
Acupuncture, while it hasn't cured the disease (not yet, anyways) has definitely offered a great deal of relief! I don't know what I would have done if it weren't for acupuncture the past month. I was losing easily 5 lbs a week, sometimes more, and had episodes where I went a day or more without even being able to drink water.
Within a week, acupuncture helped with the symptoms and I've been able to be maintain my weight, although I'm still not perfect.
I'm considering surgery for achalasia (although my acupuncturist is telling me to wait a while while she continues to try to help me), because the achalasia is pretty unbearable. It puts a stress not only on the nourishment, but on my social life as well.
But, I will probably keep on with acupuncture up until the day I have the surgery, and pray for a miracle!
