Hello there my friend and I just noted you are not feeling so good.  Well I am here to get this thread rolling. As your peers we are here to support you.  Remember our motto  "No adult left behind"  LOL or child either. :-)

To everyone else - I give you all hugs and hope your all doing well. I have a lot of issues going on lately and haven't been in a very positive place so I have with drawn a bit from here.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, you  should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get your  mind off of the problem. You  could get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give you  a fresh perspective on things.

One of the best remedies for anxiety is to talk about it. Here's where good friends and family can come in. The old adage "A problem shared is a problem halved" .

You have all of us to support you and please know we care.  Use us well dear lady and know we will be here for you.

One thing that always makes me feel good is go visit the animal shelter's visitor's room. Watching puppies or kittens play always cheers me up.

I'm fairly new to the GERD forum, but not to Healing Well. I don't know your history, but I DO know what it feels like to have everything (and then some) hitting at once.

So I wanted to send you my hugs and well wishes. One step at a time is all I can do. Sometimes that's the best any of us can do, but you know, it at least keeps us moving, even if it's slowly. And Healing Well has been a godsend for me for support.

I also go to the Humane Society a couple of times a month and take treats and walk around and feed the cats and dogs. Of course, that's not for everyone, but if you love animals it can bring a smile. At least it does to me.

Joy and PALady, what a neat idea...except that I would have a zoo at home! I can't pass up a puppy...or worse...a full grown with those sweet eyes, just asking me to take him or her home...I'd need ten more acres!!!

I go in AGAIN tomorrow to be diliated AGAIN. I don't know if the swallowing issues will ever be resolved. My wrap is still in place and doing it's job. No Gerd problems at all ;) Thank God! I've been plugging away with the Paxil and it has leveled me out some but I still have some issues. I'm trying to stay positive but it gets difficult.

Kitt, your doll and I'm giving you a big squeeze along with everyone else that has bothered to take the time to leave me encouraging words. God Bless you all!!!!

Hello everyone and good Friday to the bunch of you!

I got dilated yesterday afternoon and I'm in so much darn pain I can't believe it. I never had this much pain the following day after a dilatation. My throat is killing me, my chest is painful, even my ears hurt can you believe that?

Lately I have been experiencing extreme episodes of pain around the wrap area where it doubles me over in pain until it passes. Feels like perhaps a heart attack would but in my esophagus... hard to explain, but doc thinks I have a lot of scar tissue building from having 2 Nissens so close together. She says the big stretch should help so I just wait to see and then get dilated weekly!!!! OMGOSH I'm not digging that!!

Well I got to go get some chores done. Have a great day everyone.

Hi Teala,
Hope those dreaded dialations work wonders for you and that you get feeling better. When did you have your redo? I'm very glad to hear that your GERD is gone...that's a big positive. Sorry to hear that the dialation caused you so much pain. Hopefully it'll stop soon.

Teala, I'm so worried about you! You know I had to be stretched just the one time, but that was because I was almost swollen shut and it never become an ongoing thing. I jsut don't have any words of wisdom, just hugs, and prayers!

I am Soooooo sorry. I know exactly what you are feeling. The 9 or 10 I had done last fall and winter were very painful. Even worse the closer they did them. The last one they did on me he said he wanted to tear it over a half an inch. That was the worse. after that one the Surgeon decided it wasn't going to help anything and wanted to go in a take a look. In my case the first was done wrong and no amount of dilations would have fixed it. I am praying they got yours right the second time and this is about over for you. Again, I am sooo sorry your are having to go through this. I was so hoping the redo would be good.

I cannot imagine the pain your in with these dilations but reading your description makes it feel to me that you are at the top of the list for some giant hugs and lots of good vibes and prayers to help you through this tough time.

Please know we are here for you and we support you  100%.  You are special here in this great forum and you are family here so do let us know how you are and always feel free to vent you frustrations.  We will be here to listen and respond.

Just curious as to how the dilations went. I have my first follow up with my GI tomorrow afternoon. Then will schedule an EGD to check on the barretts. Hoping it has shrunk way up. Probabky not, but I can always hope.

Hi Guys. First off I want to Thank you for the well wishes! It means a lot to me.

I got dilated on the 9th and it seemed to all go fine. As the day progressed I started to have increased pain in my throat and chest. The night went pretty well with ibuprofen on board but by morning time I was in so much pain. That has never happened to me before from a dilation so I knew something was wrong. I called doc and she sent me into ER with all my other symptoms they wanted to x ray and scan to see if I had a hole from the procedure and she wanted me checked ASAP.

I was really swollen from my neck up because being stretched irritated everything. It was making it hard to swallow and getting harder to breath as time went by.The tests revealed I have a lot of scar tissue and it caused inflammation/swelling from the diliation. Ended up with no hole though, THANK GOD!

I'm now on GI cocktail 3 times a day and prescription ibuprofen with pain meds when it gets unbearable. I have to go back in 2 weeks and see what is up from there.

It is getting better slowly but I'm really not looking forward to more dilations for sure now.

Gotta things things done around the house. I hope you all are doing much better then me ;)

That's a tough procedure for you. Glad you're beginning to feel better. I certainly understand why you'd not want a repeat performance.

I had some issues with all the dilations, but never that bad. I always knew that that could happen and got lucky it didn't. Hope they get it healed up soon and you don't have to go through it anymore. After so many of those you sure do get tired of hearing dilation!

Bill - I know you certainly have had your fair share of dilation's. I was going to ask you if this has ever happened to you but you answered that all ready ; )

Didn't you say you had a lot of scar tissue as well or is that someone else I'm thinking of ?

I get so discouraged at times Bill, it's complicated to put into words what I'm feeling. I truly am thankful to not have gerd issues any longer such as heart burn or regurgitation etc... But I still deal with issues that really get me down in the dumps.

That is part of the reason why I have pulled myself away from this forum. I don't want to bring others down with me when a lot of the ppl on here are looking for encouragement.

I just have to try to keep faith that I will get this all figured out and get everything healed up as it should be.
