burning 1 week after nissen--ADVICE?

Sorry to hear about your burn after surgery.

I too had burn throat and sour taste still.

I had the procedure done on 9/9/09 - today is my 5th day out of surgery.

I still have burn throat after surgery. 

I took Malox and Prilosec today and it seem to help soath my throat.

As before, I took 80MG protonix and it doesn't help. It burned - hurted a lot.

I felt my throat was so raw. Even taken a tea spoon of honey, I can feel the burn hurt sensation.

Before the surgery, nothing seem to relief my burn throat.

But after surgery, I do get the burn still . 

- I am hoping it will eventually go away.

I can burp but at the moment I am on chicken liquid soup thing. I feel my throat is tight when I try to take a very big drink of the soup. I never felt like this - so I guess the wrap is still there.

Anyway, I am going to make an appointment to follow up with my dr. I know I am still getting reflux - but hopefully it is just esophaguz swell thing and acid is still reflux because of the swell....and hopefully it will get better as time goes after the swell...

I will post more as what my dr say -

Hi lstek,
Cowboy is giving you good advice. The recovery is slow, and requires patience. When I had the surgery, I made the commitment to surrender to the recovery and let it take me where it would. It has made my recovery much easier. Your esophagus was treated to constant acid, and it will take a substantial amount of time for that delicate tissue to recover. Before surgery, when I would get a severe GERD episode, it would take me months to recover.

If you can relax into your recovery, and give it the time it takes, you will likely find that your esophagus and inflamed feeling subsides.

I had the surgery to try to relieve severe asthma, and for two and a half months after surgery, still suffered greatly. I saw no real improvement. Over time, though my lung tissue healed, and I now have healthy lungs (although I still get some allergic reactions, it's NOTHING like it was before surgery).

Try to be patient, and don't panic. Give your body time to adjust to the surgery and heal.
