Linx system surgery Part 1 of 2 CLOSED

TO Shooze..how are doing, i hope you are doing well!........I am wondering if the food is passing down well...I pray it is...I pray this is working for you....and the pain is finally going to an end....any news with your eating? is it better? how about the drinking?

Hi all,
I feel like a little kid again!!! I think I'm finally getting the eating thing down!! I made it through most of dinner tonight with one slight problem. I can feel the Torac device working. NO antacids, no Protonix and NO heartburn. I think I overdid the working thing today (half day) and my belly is tender tonight. I will be a lot more careful tomorrow. Other than the food sticking (my surgeon's office told me this was a normal complaint for the first week) I would do this again in a heart beat. I intend to try tomato soup on Wednesday (haven't been able to eat for over a year) and see where that goes. I see my surgeon on Thursday and he will get a well deserved BIG hug from me. Shooz, I didnt know any thing about this procedure intill this moment when i poped my head in here. I'm so glad you are doing well. I'm even happier that some one came up with an implant.

You can feel the implant working. I can feel the wrap doing its job too so it sounds like the outcome is exactly the same. But I would guess you dont have pain when you swallow a bit too fast, and the wrap stretches, causing stress on the stiches, and causing a lot of pain. It will take a while for that to fade and get used to it.

If they can make and successfully implant heart valves, I never understood while I was suffering and researching, why they could never come up with an implant to help the weak LES work as it was intended to. Knowing how this desieas affects your life, I'm extatic about this procedure.

Hopefully everything goes well with the trials and the FDA aproves it quickly after that. This sounds like the answer to all our prayers.

I have had my wrap for 5 weeks now and if I ever have any issues its nice to know that there might be another procedure that sounds more convinient than wrapping your stomach around your esophogus.

My Torax is a very interesting device. I can feel it and if I try to eat too fast, to much at a time or not chew it enough it will actually get caught at the device. It sticks there for a short time, it is painful and then you can feel the device open and the food go down where it belongs. My Doc say with time I won't think about it and these sensations will be part of normal life. I am learning to eat again and it is working. I eat slower, smaller amounts and chew carefully. The more I read in this forum I hope that this gets approved and helps the masses!! Shooz

I must admit that I feel a bit guilty after my surgery. I now feel sooooooooo much better and have had 0 reflux or heartburn. I feel bad for all of you suffers out there that this is a clinical trial and not yet approved for the general population. I'm trying to contain my feelings somewhat while ready to jump right out of my skin because I feel so good. So I ask that you please bear with me and don't get too angry with me as I continue my journey. THANKS to all for your support. Shooz

I am so HAPPY for you!

I stopped the medicines for 2 days just in attempts to try...and see if I don't reflux or something! THE pain was sooo much and I am back to 2 NEXIUMS per day....

I am not happy...

I am waiting for the surgery to be approved....I AM SO happy for you

but I am also worried, are you losing weight?

and how is the DRINKING going on in particular, can you drink easily since drinking is easier than EATING?

perhaps eating yogurt-like foods would not be a problem since they pass in fast?

Please don't feel guilty. I am delighted for you. I personally feel that it's much easier to tolerate the symptoms if there is hope that one day a procedure may be available. As others have said, you are a pioneer and I wish you the very best of health.

jules, to fight bacterial overgrowth in my stomach I take sustenex everyday. It really cuts down on the gas.

I'm in a hurry for my surgery because I cough constantly from acid spilling over into my lungs. If my EsophyX fails (which some say it might) I'll get the Linx on top of it.

The only thing that burns me is PP&J. Everything else makes me cough. Have you tried Crystal light?

I just received an e-mail from the surgeon...he said enteryx has been stopped a long time ago...and he currently just thinks i should take the PPI until I decide whether I want to do the nissen or the Linx...
