Howdy!
Well made it through the night and didn't get forced in tonight. I can use the next 2 days to recoup some. The twisting and turning carrying the parts took a toll on my ribs and side. getting very curious if the CT showed anything now since the pain is definitely still there. I'll find out the 1st. All in all it was a good night, just took forever for 6:30 to get here.

Anne- The side pain had pretty much gone away until tonight. It still was tender if the doctor pushed on it, but didn't bug me other wise. The shoulder and ribs won't give it up though. Just figure it is something I'll have to live with. Now that it has been 21 months for the ribs I am sure it won't completely go away. The injections don't last more than about 5 weeks at best. Mostly only about 3 weeks.

Barb- Sorry you are having difficulty sleeping still. Sure was sounding promising the other night. Hopefully you can get some good sleep this weekend.

I started Part 6 and away we go.  This has been a great thread and the camaraderie I see in your thread is always so heart warming.

So good to hear you made it through your first shift back to work and now it is the week-end.  Be sure to mix relaxation in with some fun stuff.

Howdy all-
I made an appointment with the Thoracic surgeon again to get this rib pain stopped. made it almost 5 weeks I think this time. Much better than 1 or 2 weeks. It's been a long busy day. My daughter got asked to play for another team that needed some help this weekend and since we weren't playing I let her. My best friend and I went to the woods and put up our deer stands. Got the 4 wheeler stuck twice and a 1 hour job took 4 hours to do. I sure am not liking this week leg muscle issue. Trying to do more stairs and more walking, but it's not coming back very fast at all. Actually I am not sure I have seen any improvement the last 2 weeks. I am starting to gain back the upper body strength slowly. After that I had to take another shower and head to the "Sluggerfest". It is our first annual softball organization fall party. One of the families has a farm and a lake property attached. The girls did some work in the batting cage to start the day off. Then we had a row boat race and fishing derby. Followed by dinner that consisted of Hardee's hamburgers, hot dogs, walleye, curly fries, and way too many desserts! Our team manager owns some local Hardees and we used the cooking trailer they have for special events. After dinner they had fun on the hayrack rides until dark. Then it was bonfire time with fireworks. I broke out the guitar at my daughter's request and we picked and sang around the campfire until almost 10pm. It was a great day! We had the girls from 3 of our 6 teams there, the others were in a tournament today out of town and couldn't make it. It was such a hit we are planning a possible second one at Halloween.
It was a rough day for equipment though. We had a flat tire on the golf cart, 4 wheeler, hayrack and a broken prop on one of the fishing boats. All were fixed and able to be enjoyed the rest of the day. I was s impressed with the way all the families came together and had such a wonderful time. Anytime you can get 36 to 40 families together and everyone has a great time it's amazing. We even toughed out some nasty weather early on. The rain hit about 12pm and finally gave way to clear skies about 5 pm. Had just enough rain to make things good and soggy, but it couldn't stop those young ladies from having fun. Actually I think the muddier it was the more they liked it.

Kitt- You are right this thread is awesome. It is more than just one person's story and I love to read all the things everyone is doing. I hope it continues to grow. It warms my heart to see so much shared and so many people helped here.

I am trying to remember that. It does get hard to do some days. I actually got to go watch my daughter play today. It was a welcome break to just sit and watch her for a change.

Hey Bill sounds like u had a blast. I did this weekend as well. It wasmy grandbaby Haleys 2nd birthday.We rented out the party jungle and had elmo come. Since she loves spongebob so much and we were payin 150 bucks for a half hour the owner threw in a spongebob costume and guess who wore it.Yup  crazy ole me. My hubby & kids didnt even no i was in it. Needless to say neither did my moooshuuuuu she was dancing with me aka pongebob and she was lookin all a round tryin to find me. She said Momm, momm where r u,spongebob is here momma" .I was crying like a baby becuz it was priceless, especially when my hubby & kids realized. They were snappin away. I put them all on my Facebook for my family that lives all over the states. Oh, let me not forget this "My brother says to me while Im in costume" You gotta be hot in there" I said arrrrrrrrrrrrrr you kidding me, Im sweating musty balz.LOL,  No lie I was drenched and when I went outside and took the costume off.  I walked in and didnt even know I looked like Phyliss diller and s omething about mary, they were all snappin pics. Then it was y brothers 50th bday but we are having a surprise for hi in a restaurant oct 17 cuz he doesnt want a party. He thinks he is goin to my surprise party as my bday is oct 7th. Not to mention my beautiful day today in which all NY teams won,  Football & Yankees clinched!! WOOT WOOT.

I go to the drs on tuesday. I have 3 different appointments. Wish me luck

I love this thread...........and reading Bea's Grandbabies birthday party experience made me laugh and cry........what a great lady you are Bea.  Isn't it wonderful to have a grandchild to dote on ?  Our youngest grandchild turns 6 on 10/22.  She is in school now and is big into playing teacher at home.  I am to come up with a gift of goodies for her to use to play school.    I will be off to the Mall here shortly.

Bill,  So glad you had the chance to sit back and watch your daughter play ball.  I can tell by your posts how proud you are of her and how much you enjoy doing something you both love together.

Ouch the dang pain just had to flare last night............I am sorry and hope that today you get some answers from your Thoracic Doc .  Do let us know how your appointment goes today.

Barb,  I am always amazed at your wonderful outlook on life and how you enjoy your family and friends to the fullest.  I love to read what you are doing and it does sound like so much fun at your house.

It does my heart good to know you are surrounded by family that loves you and you are obviously the heart of your wonderful family.  BBQ, love it but I am sorry the smoke was triggering your asthma issues.

Hi Y'all-
Well my Thoracic Dr. wants to try to get the insurance to pay for Lyrica again. He thinks they might now because we have tried about everything else. I did get the injections, so tonight will be miserable. Tomorrow should be a lot better though. He doesn't want me to go into work tonight either, so the injections can have time to work before I abuse myself at work. Other than an incredibly long night things are a little better this afternoon. I am going to veg out today as per doctor's orders. I'll stop by later tonight my friends.

Ahhhhhhhh Bea and Mary your so lucky to get to spend time with the little ones. How precious they are. They grow up so fast.

Bill, you take it easy tonight and let those shots work. I'll pray that your insurance gives you the medicine you need. I never got around to calling the doctors office today and he was off in another town any way today but I'm calling the case manager tomorrow and talk to her about getting me the nasonex that works for me instead of the crap the insurance decided I should have instead. It doens't work and the post nasal drip irritates the heck out of the asthma. I'm bone tired tonight and sick of coughing. I didn't take as many treatments and don't know if it would have mattered any way with the postnasal drip. Oh well will try to take care of all of that tomorrow along with ordering a cake that I forgot about for my daughters party tomorrow night.

Hey Kitt, I have my days and today wasn't one of them. Way too much coughing and when I looked through my chart from the hospital I found that the doctor had seen mild emphysema on my xray. That was pretty depressing to see. I'll have to have my doctor look at the CD they sent with me of the xrays. Well no time to be depressed as we are having my sisters over for a cookout and birthday cake for my daughter tomorrow. I will have to call the bakery in the morning as I forgot about the cake. I want something special for my special daughter who has done so much for us. I do love having family close and doing fun things with them. My youngest sister likes to just come over and hang out with us as do her kids. Every one thinks our house is the party house. We do have plenty of them here. I am the oldest in the family and since our mom and dad are both gone we do most of the family gathering at our house and really enjoy doing it. Well I am bone tired and my sleeping pill is kicking in along with the zyrtec, singulair and elevil. Yawn. Good night all. Barb

Today is going very well so far. The ribs are behaving just wish the shoulder would get the message.
Anne- Thank you for the kind words. I try my best to not let things get to me. Some days are harder than others though.

Barb- Sure hope you can get the Nasonex. I also agree with Kitt and hope you do get the cd to your doctor. Have great time with your daughter's Birthday party.

Kitt- Hope you have great day at school today. I think what you do is wonderful.

Howdy!
Well this week was a real bummer. Even with the nerve block Monday I wasn't able to go to work. It started to take effect, but only last a day. The doctor wants me to see what happens through the weekend. He had me off all this week to try and let the meds work. He also wants me to try Lyrica because the Neurontin has stopped working. We tried this before, but the insurance wouldn't pay for it because it isn't diabetic neuropathy. My doctor said since it haas been a year or more since we tried it and we have tried many other meds that failed he is going to fight them this time. He actually said we are going to get this even if I have to kick them in the butt.
Still waiting for the MRI results for my shoulder. Michelle saw our PCP yesterday and he said he believes it is something in the trap muscle area causing the pain. Not sure if that would explain it going down my arm and making my arm and hand numb.
We are supposed to play softball this weekend, but it has been raining for 2 days and isn't supposed to stop until Sunday. So I don't think we will be playing this weekend.

Hi Bill, sorry that you had such a bad week. You can't seem to catch a break. Take it easy this weekend and try to rest. I look at rain as Gods way of saying get some extra rest.   I think your doctor is right about you getting the medicine you need now since other things were tried and it has been a while since you took the other stuff. I am going through the same thing with the nose spray and the my nurse case manager through the insurance company said all my doctor has to do is tell the insurance that we tried the other stuff and it's not working. I told her how my doctor says he doensn't know why it's not working because it is basically the same thing and she said sometimes the generic doesn't work as well for some reason. Right now the doc is having me try a rhinecort sample to see if that works. I don't know why he doesn't just give me the nasonex that we know works. At least you have your doctor on your side to fight for you. If my lung doctor doesn't give me the nasonex I am going to talk to the allergy doc or my regular doc as this is kind of ridiculous. Oh well hope your weekend is going bettter than your week did. Take care. I am off to take a nice long nap. Barb
