Good luck tomorrow my friend! We'll be here waiting for updates and ready to cheer you on and help as we can. I did have a great weekend, but tonight things went bad again. The ribs and shoulder just won't give up, but I see the doctor tomorrow for another set of injections in the ribs.
Do ask for all you can get out of them. If they can help ease any isues you are having by all means ask them. Please don't be in ahurry to get home either. With all the things going on right now you may need to stay a couple days just to be sure all will go well at home. I wish I would have styed one more day after my redo. I wouldn'thave had to make the 2 1/2 hour trip back up there if I would have stayed. I got anxious to go home though.

Griff,

Well today is the day.  Surgery is always scary but this is going to change your life.  The more calm you are after surgery the easier things will be, got to keep that esophogus relaxed.

With things the way they are in hospitals these days, your surgeon probably wants to get you out asap.  I was in over night but could easily have gone home that day.

Remember, not much to eat at one time.  Eat real often so you won't get hungry and eat too much and end up with shoulder or gas pains.

Welcome to the wrapped club and I will be thinking of and praying for you today at 2:30. 

Go Griff, Go Griff, Go Griff.

Each day will get easier and in a week or so you will be a different person.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life and you are going into surgery to make your  life better..............you have my prayers and thoughts.

Look there... not even in surgery yet and we are all chdeering you on! Had to stop by and wish you good luck and an early welcome to the "Wrapped Club". I am off to take me a nap, but I stop by later tonight and see if you are able to give us an update. Take all te time you need to my friend and we will be here for you when you need us.

omg.. i haven't eaten in like 18 hours.. ah! im doin ok this morning... doc told me to stop the pill because now both of my shoulders wont let up the burning... so cold turkey and nissen here i go.. im gonna ask to stay the nite.. just for reassurance for myself... ill see wat the surgeon says... kinda in freak out mode now.. but thanks for everyone's kind words! truely.. this is my family away from family!:)
u guys r truely amazing! ill talk to u when im done getting wrapped either tonite or tomorrow.. so here i go....

We are with you in thought Griff.  Ask the surgeon if you had a hiatial hernia.  As much trouble as you have had bet it is a big one.

Hey Griff,

By now you may be back in your room or at least in recovery and you are officially wrapped.  I am right here praying for you and will be checking in before bedtime to see if there is any word but would guess it will be tomorrow before your up to using the puter.

I do work on Tuesday but will check in the morning b/4 I leave.  Hugs and prayers and the cheer leading squad is all warmed up.

I'll be checking most of the night and most of the day tomorrow too since my doctor insisted I take atleast one more night off to let the nerve block do it's thing. Hopefully you are resting comfortably and aren't enduring very much pain.

I too will be cheking in to see how your doing, Griff. I hope everything went well for you and that they have you one some good pain meds.

I'm excited for you and hope to hear that all you GERD related pains are a thing of the past.

Hey Griff,

You may not be around a puter, but if you are still in the hospital we know they have you awake by now.

It is really over, and the healing begins.  You will be hungry today, you said you hadn't eaten in 18 hours yesterday morning.  Take it easy and slow, not too much at at time.

And they give you such umy broth!

Looks like we lost some posts when the site was down.

Griff, I hope you feel better over all. I know you were having issues with your bladded and had pain in your upper body. That should all fade with time as you heal from your wrap. I hope at least you arent burning any more and you can start the healing of your esophogus.

hello everyone! im up and movin but bk and shoulders r killin me.. so is this wierd heat i keep getting across my forehead.. weird huh..
well surgery as my surgeon said was a beauty and sucess.. felt like hell though... bladder wouldn't empty and they couldnt control my nausea or pain.. so i couldnt leave... took3 days... and they wouldnt crush the pills so i swallowed and sure enough it got stuck and i felt like vomitting............ o wait i dry heaved stupid nurses... pain today is ok.. but i get weid painss in my wrists too but iono wats caused by that... was glad my mom and friend came to visti me yay.. i went bk to jello cause it feels ok.. still havent tooted.. and its been 4 days almost that normal?
pain normal too rite? ive been walkin round house today i did part of a puzzle.. and watched movies and read... relaxed basically.. sigh.. so bored lol
hurt to sleep flat too took like 3 hours.. to nod off but slept 10 hrs.. so yay.. today's grub.. jello and ensure.. and tonite my friend brought me a milkshake.. and mashed potatoes from bostom market! i told her im in luv... with the food! still burping tiny.. and a few big ones.. u kno wat hurts the worst?! drinkin water.. ya bizarre... anyhow minus the first 3 days.. im feeling ok the pain as is i can deal bk is the worst from laying and sitting...
is it normal to burp this much too..? tried a lil gas x last ntie mite do it again just to feel a lil better... still heart burny.. a lil.. but guess that noaml.. i just PRAY my dry heavin the first two days didnt mess up the wrap:(

It's so strange how everybody suffers from that back and shoulder pains? Do you think it's a nerve they irritated?
I wonder if it happens to all of the surgeries?

Griff glad to see that over all you are doing good. Do you burp when you swallow or burp out of the blue? I have discoverd that when I burp its the air trappped in my esophogus as I drink or swallow and only then can I burp. If it makes it to my stomach I'm screwed..LOL! Chewable gas x is fine. I chew 2 with every meal.

It will hurt to sleep for a while untill you find what side you can sleep on the best. I was sleeping on both my sides th esecond nite. Pain in your center mass is normal. I dont know about you head and wrists though.

Can you feel th ewrap when you swallow? If so you didnt mess any thing up with the dry heaving. I guess its normal because my Surgeon asked if I had dry heaved or even vomited.

If you didnt get Vicotin Elixer you should ask your doctor for it. It really helped me with the pain and best of all no pills so nothing to get stuck.

Try and get some protein from GNC. You can mix it in to oat meal once you move on to that. I dont know how much you weighed of if you could of lost a few pounds but it looks like most people loose an average of 30 pounds in the first month. Get some chewable kids vitamins as well. Its ok to loose weight but you need nutrients in order to heal.

Hello and I am glad we are back online and yes we lost some posts back to 9/30 as I know we had more in your thread.

"stupid nurses",  awwwwwwwww shucks, me too? I know what you mean,  we get stupid patients.......... devil devil devil , can't resist teasing you a bit.   Remember if I did not tease you I would not care ............. smhair I am just very glad the surgery is behind you and now the mending takes place.'

As I have never had the surgery so  I can only imagine the pain and difficulty you are feeling but remember with each day your body is healing and you will soon be feeling so much better.  I am just glad you are here among your friends and your peers who can help you through the tough times.

I am here cheering for you and keep on keeping on.

I wish you peace and happiness and no stupid nurses. LOL
