gastritis/lpr

i have gerd(lpr) and chronic gastritis. i posted in a different thread but am desperate for help. on 2 a day aciphex with no nelp for 7 months. very scared. any tips or things that have helped would be appreciated. i keep hearing about the fundo wrap, but am afraid it may not work. i just want all this stuff to stop coming up in my throat, it is very red and i am hoarse. if i could just get the mucuous to stop coming up that would be great. the gi dr. says i have a patulous les, guess its wide open. can it go back to normal. help!!!

i am deperate and am scared as i have 2 small kids and cannot function like i used to. i have a call out to the doc. very interested in hearing about surgical techniques to strenghten the les. thank you very much for your comments. do you have gastritis and lpr also?

my chronic gatsritis is from xyrem, a sleep med.  i had gastritis for 2 months and the dr. never told me until one day i was in getting sample meds and the nurse told me.  i was floored.  the whole 2 months i was using something that was even doing more damage.  the nurse told me it was ok to keep using but it wasnt.  now i am exercising, watching what i eat and am hoping for improvements but am seeing none.  I am also getting off all other non acid pills.  i currently have gastritis(moderate, chronic and (gerd/lpr).  I have requested my records and it said i had erosions in throat/stomach, abnormal tongue and a patulous les.  also an irregular ge junction, along with gastritis confirmed with biopsy.  any natural remedies?  i hear about digestive enzymes and dgl licorice, but do not know what/where to get.  thanks for your help.  is your gastritis the permanent type too.  I no longer take that med, but the damage was done thats for sure.  also have anxiety and sleep 4 hrs a night(for 3 years)

I'm also waiting for surgery next Tuesday. I have a weak LES and gunk in the throat.
There are many surgery techniques out there:
EsophyX (only works with small to no HH)
Hill procedure (270 degree wrap- that's what I'm getting)
Nissen (360 degree wrap)
Torpet (?sp)

I had the surgery one and half years ago and I also had a patulous LES. First of all, I would suggest you get another GI doctor. Ask around to your friends and collegues for the name of a good one. You need one who believes in surgery because many of them don't and just want to keep you on meds that don't work. I was one that the meds did not help, no matter how much I took. A wide open LES does not get better and your only option if meds do not work.

Once you get a good GI, he will suggest the type of surgery that would be the best for you. There are many different ones and one size does not fit all. It depends on your individual conditions. Do alot of research on the internet about the different kinds. Many people do very well with the Nissen wrap. Different surgeons do a specific kind and become proficient at one kind. Do research on your surgeon also because you don't want a bad one to do this surgery. The surgery worked great for me and I'm so glad that I did it. I developed Barretts Esophagus from acid washing up in my esophagus and throat and it is a precursor to esophageal cancer so I wish I had not waited so long to do the surgery.

I have had my gastritis for about four years and was just recently diagnosed.  All the other GI docs kept saying that I had a chronic inflammation in the small intestine and it was no big deal, but I found a good GI Doc who did the endoscope and that is the answer to the four years of chronic inflammation.  I had my gall bladder out four years ago, and they think that is what is causing the gastritis, which it turned out to affect the esophogitis too. Since it took so long to diagnose.  They think possibly a bile reflux issue.  Will have to get the Hida Scan to know for sure.  I got off of everything acidic and eat very bland.  I have been on prilosec prescription for past six weeks.  I have heard good things about digestive enzymes. I got a little bit nervous when I found out some have hydrocloric acid in them, wasnt sure I wanted to risk that.  Also heard that probiotics help, as well as dgl licorice, mastic 500 gum by jorrow and some say orange rind tablets help too.  Look up natural meds on the internet.  I am hoping to try some in the next week after my Dr. Appt.  I hope that you get some answers.

Oral taking of the honey is prescribed, 1-2g per kg of body weight, 3 times a day. In hyper acid gastritis honey is to be taken 2 hours before meals and at hypo acid take it in warm water 10 minutes before meals. Treatment lasts for 20-30 days.

i have my voice today, but tomorrow, who knows. lpr/gerd/gastritis.. theres gotta be something for us posters. they can transplant organs for petes sake
