how long before meds start to work?

I was on 20 mgs omeprazole for 2 weeks and it was working, into the 3rd week, all my symptoms came back as bad as ever.

went back to doctors, and have been put on lansoprazole 30mgs for 28 days.

started 2 days ago, no real relief from symptoms yet cry

anyone know how soon it should start to work?

Sometimes they can take a week or two to get the full effect.

Good Morning Lady,

The peak blood levels for lansoprazole are attained in 2-5 hours and the effect can be seen by then. A steady suppressive effect on acid production is acheived in 4-5 days.

To the best of my knowledge, the medication has to be taken just before eating. Eating makes the proton pump active and lansoprazole will start to act better.
