I will need to do some type of LES improvement soon, but none seem real effective long term right now.

The Linx is still new and experimental. The EsophyX procedure is only four years old. If your hiatal hernia is bigger than 2 cm, the EsophyX procedure is too dangerous. It can pull up your stomach into your chest.
I had the Hill procedure. It is a 270° wrap and is not as tight as a wrap as the 360° Nissen. Food is able to pass easier through it. I've been able to burp since day one.
My recovery has been extremely smooth. I did have some pain the first couple days, but it was not severe.

There's two of us that I know of on here who have the linx. Shooz is the other. I had mine done in August. Some foods, mostly bread, caused some swallowing difficulty for a few weeks. Now I seldom think about it when I eat. However in my case the linx is not the cure all it was hoped to be. I guess that's why it's still experimental. I seem to be having more and more indigestion the last couple of months. I go to see the doc in early March and we'll see what happens then.

I frankly wouldn't be insisting on one of the new procedures. Firstly, as was already posted, they are still experimental. Will your insurance cover? My op was about $75K.
Secondly, if you don't have complicating problems, there are several types of surgeries with varying styles and tightnesses of wraps. They are all generally done laproscopically, so there is no giant incision, and recovery is pretty fast. They have been proven over many years and there are plenty of surgeons who have done hundreds and are highly skilled.
Thirdly, I wouldn't be going for one that leaves me with a bunch of metal, especially ferrous, as in magnets. I need MRIs for back problems and injuries to a knee. You can't have them with ferrous metal implanted.

     The Linx magnetic bracelet is done laproscopically.  I went home as soon as I sobered up from the anesthesia.  Hardly any soreness.  Unlike some other procedures for GERD it is completely reversable.  The company (Torax) funded my surgery since it is for a clinical trial.  Otherwise I wouldn't have had it.  The magnetic beads are not just hunks of cast iron slapped around the lower esophagus.  They're a bit more elaborate than that.  You're right about MRIs.  That could be a big no no.  I've never had one and now I most likely never will.

I'm the other Linx guy!!! I agree with two dogs that certain foods still get stuck. If I eat too quickly or too much at one time I'm not a pleasant person to be around. Torax has paid for everything so far and will continue through the trial period. I have my 6 month (yes 6 months already) check up in March and will also report back on my progress. I also have bad knees and there are other tests than MRI that can be done. The best part of this trial is it is completely reversible, if something goes wrong they can take it out. I would never considered surgery for my GERD so this has been a wonderful experience. I keep hearing that Europe may approve this procedure for the general public this year!! I haven't been able to confirm this yet. I do a lot of traveling for my job and so far I haven't had a problem at the airport. I can't wait for the first full body scan to see what happens.
