I had my nissen and hiatal surgery on March 1st.
The surgery wasn't bad at all, it's the recovery that takes time. I listened to the wise words of many posters here that told me to take it easy and let my body recover.
I had horrific pain from gas. I also had bad shoulder pain from the insides being swollen. I eventually went to the bathroom when I got home and that seemed to take care of 99% of that pain. I also had my throat tighten which hurt terribly when I was trying to eat so again I learned, small bites, chew, chew and don't drink a big gulp of anything. Small sips AFTER you are done eating.
I was in ICU for 3 days after my surgery, just something my Doctor does with his patients. I wasn't in too much pain after the surgery either.
Make sure to get the anti nausea medication as you are nauseous and I don't know why.
I went back to work 2 weeks after the surgery.
Today, I feel pretty darn good except for being constipated and morning nausea but the medication helps with that. Mornings are the worse for me, after the noon mark I feel pretty good except I am VERY tired. But again, time will heal all.
Best wishes to you!!!
