My heartburn/reflux/indigestion whatever it is happens usually around midnight and I eat a rolaid and it goes away.  It's not a great pain by any stretch but is enough to cause sleep disruption.  On occasion I have taken a little baking soda in a half glass of water.  Then again I have drunk just plain water and gotten relief.  So I am inclined to think a little acid is leaking back into my esophagus and is easily dealt with.  I don't see the doc for a couple of months.  Maybe I can remember to ask about the bead separation thingie. :)

I wonder if it will be possible to have both the Esophyx and the Linx done on the same person. That way the benefits of both approaches can be utilized and maybe it can increase the effectiveness of the barrier. Maybe the Esophyx stitches can also help to anchor the Linx bracelet in place.
On the other hand I guess it may also introduce complications.

Hi everyone,
Time for a update, sorry I've been swamped at work!! Pretty much status quo. I have however developed a lump in my throat. Not sure what it is feels funny like something is there. 2dogs, experience anything like this? Other than that everything seems fine. Things still get stuck from time to time and I know it's because I eat too fast or to much at a time. I heard that Europe may approve the Linx this year for the general population. I would think that we would be close behind. Who can believe that March is my 6 month anniversary already!! I hope everyone is doing fine. Shooz tongue turn tongue

I have very little trouble swallowing now. No, no lump in my throat or any thing else to gripe about except I keep having mild indigestion nearly every day. Hooray for Rolaids. I guess my bracelet isn't doing its job very well. I think my six month followup is in Feb. The doc mentioned last time maybe doing the little transmitter-in-the-esophagus deal. Can't remember the term. I'll do that-but if he wants to stick the tube up my nose and down my goozle he's gonna have a fight on his hands. That ain't going to happen again to this old geezer.

I think he's talking about the BRAVO. It's not bad at all if they do it under sedation.

    Thanks for asking.  I have indigestion quite regularly now, nearly every day.  My bracelet has hardly any affect on swallowing and apparently very little on my reflux.  It may be that it is too loose.  But if it was any tighter I think eating would be most uncomfortable.  I will see the doc in a few days and see what he thinks.  I just may have to call this Linx a failure on my part and go back to Nexium.  On Nexium I had no problem what so ever with indigestion.  Two Dogs

I'm sorry to hear things aren't going very well. I have short bouts of burn occasionally, nothing that lasts very long or anything like I used to have. I still have this annoying "lump" in my throat. The more I think about it the more I can feel it. I have my 6 mo check up with my surgeon this week and will ask about it. I still get reminded to eat slow, small amounts and chew well!!! I have noticed that when I stress I seem to have more issues than if things are calm. To date NO reflux. Overall I'm still VERY happy with the outcome and look forward to my future w/o GERD. I wish you the BEST, Shooz.

Hi Everyone,
I had my 6 month check up with my surgeon last week and all seems to be going very well. The device seems to be working the way it was designed. I was happy to report to my Doc that I haven't had a issue with the chest pain since the first of November. I still get some SHORT periods of burn, usually when I eat and only occasionally. Nothing compared to what I was living with before surgery. I think some of these issues are linked to stress and I living in a VERY stressful time right now. I'm very busy at work and my Dad passes away last week. To top all of that off last Friday I had a bout of the chest pain again. I have a physical with my GP this week and will have this discussion with him to rule out any heart problem. My next visit with my surgeon is the end of July and I get to go through all of the tests again. All in all I would do it again as I'm not on any GERD meds and haven't had to take any antacids since my Sept surgery. All for now, keep smiling!! Shooz turn turn turn

Hi Shooz,

I think you initially had a problem burping after the surgery. Did that problem go away for you?

Are you able to sleep on a flat bed, or do you have the head of your bed raised up a little?

I'm glad to hear you are happy with your results so far.

First thing in the am my stomach sounds like a marching band!!! No problems with burping now. I find as I exercise I have a tendency to burp more. As far as sleeping I do nothing special. I sleep on a pillow but I don't have our bed raised and I haven't had any problems with reflux since surgery in Sept. I'm pleased with the results as is my Doc. Hopefully the good news continues. Hi everyone,
I had my physical with my GP Doc yesterday and I'm HAPPY to report that the chest pain I have been experiencing is not my heart. My EKG show a very healthy and happy heart. I think we agree that it may be scar tissue or spasms causing the pain. Other than that my Doc says I'm healthy as a horse!! I continue to have great results with my device and at the end of July I will have all of the tests again to prove it is working the way it was designed. I think we are getting closer to the approval and hopefully it will help many of you. Happy Friday and keep smiling. Shooz turn yeah turn

You previously wrote about an annoying lump in your throat. Is this also the chest pain you referred to?
Do you still feel it?

The lump and the chest pain are 2 different things. The lump feels like there is something low in my throat. I don't always notice it and when I do I can't seem to get away from it. The pain is a sharp (8 on the scale) pain in the area where the device is. Both of my docs, my surgeon and my GP think it may be scar tissue or a spasm causing it. At my physical last week my EKG showed a happy and healthy heart. At the end of July I will have all of the tests again to show how the device is working, barium swallow, manometry, endoscopy and bravo study. For now I can lnly tell you how happy I am to be a part of this study. All for now and everyone keep smiling!! Shooz

Hi everyone,
Good news about the approval in Europe!!!!! I hope this helps the States cause.

I don't have anything new to report, things are status quo at this time. I'm looking forward to my July appointment and the entire series of tests again!!!! Actually for those who have had them or those of you worried about having them, from my perspective they are not that bad. A good Doc or nurse can help you through the tests.  I had a long and boring diatribe going and it disappeared.  So the short version is I still have reflux and am back on Nexium.  My trial is obviously a failure.  I'll leave the Linx in since it doesn't cause any (very little) problem. Thanks to all who asked about me.  Later, Two Dogs
