chickbygawd, I cant answer ay of your questions about having children, but I can ease you mind by telling you that the surgery is not as bad as it sounds. The liquid diet just means they don't want you to go and gobble down a porterhouse steak on the second day after surgery. You can eat rice, oatmeal, chicken, basically anything that can be chewed to a pulp or liquid form.
IT IS VERY WORTH IT. It completely changed my life. I would do it as many times as necessary, but don't plan on having to do it more than once since I'm taking very good care of myself post op. My brother is on his second one but his eating habits never changed. He drinks hard liquor and beer, eats steaks, hot salsa's, pickled or vinegary foods, basically everything that I don't. My surgeon told me to think of the wrap as "New Breaks". He said they are tight in the beginning, and food will be an issue going down. But as the wrap wears due to food passing through it, it "fades", like breaks, and loosens up. He went further with his analogy and told me that like with a car if you ride the breaks hard the breaks will wear fast. Meaning that if you eat food that is hard to swallow and pass through the wrap it will loosen faster than if you didn't. This is why I chose to eat mostly food that I can chew to a pulp. No beef, pork, or bread for me. Only veggies, fruits, chicken, fish, legumes, beans, and very little whole grain breads.
The success of the surgery is in your hands.
Take care,
Rafael
