I'm new here :D - Is retching a normal symptom of GERD?

Just developed this after 3 years of reflux. seems to be happening once a day in the morning after eating something: I get a bloated feeling which increases till I retch a few times. been on 40 mg Nexium which has controlled symptoms quite well for 18 months. First 18 months were bad as I was on a low dose of Lansoprazole.

Is this common?

Thanks for your reply. Yes I was crying a bit over the past few days with this crappy disease, and I'm normally quite upbeat. the doc thinks the timing of taking my PPI is out. I was taking it first thing in the morning. He told me to take it later in the day. Perhaps the acid was building overnight as it wore off? When do you guys take your ppi, or is it what works for the individual?

 He put me on a prokinetic in the UK called metoclopromide, is that the same as Zofran? Anyway seems better today, as it reduces nausea and stimulates gastric emptying. I coulf feel the stomach contents yesterday glug glug glug going down after a tablet. Its funny that my worst spells are when Im a bit constipated. It must all back up and cause LES pressure.
