Gastritis

I was told after endoscopy in February i had esophagitis, gastritis, GERD, and small hiatal hernia. Tried evetu ppi, protonix is only one that helped a little. Stopped ppis month ago ate fried chicken parmesan with spaghetti over two days ago and it made my gastritis act up really bad and hasn't let up. Started protonix again. Have massive tingling in heart like it feels anxious. Is that a symptom of gastritis? Nothing has been able to stop this flare up and heart tingling. Does gastritis ever go away? What to do if nothing is helping symptoms?

Thanks zeldagoblin for the info. Fried, tomato-based foods kill me. How long do your flare ups typically last? I have had my current flare up since my dinner Wednesday, which is 4 days ago. Also, do you get weird tingling, burning feeling in your heart that makes it seem nervous or anxious with your flare ups? I have that and it is so uncomfortable along with the pain in my left side. Also do you get shortness of breath too?

My doctor said i tested negative for H pylori and did not say what may have caused my gastritis. I have mentioned the heart symptoms to her and she just said that is "weird" and "interesting". That is why i tried to see 2 other GI doctors to get second opinions but they didn't like being the second opinion and quickly dismissed me from their care. Maybe i need to ask for anti anxiety meds.

As Kitt said, the heart symptom could be anxiety. But it could also be from an esophageal trigger.

The esophagus and the heart are connected by the vagus nerve. It's possible, as in my case, that if you irritate the esophagus, either from a food sensitivity or even a mechanical thing like swallowing a large pill or one that isn't coated and sticks a little, that the esophagus can send a signal to the heart and cause a problem. In my case I get tachycardia. I have specific food intolerances/sensitivities/allergies that cause this, but also (especially since my fundoplication) I can get it going just by drinking a glass of milk too rapidly.

Most doctors have never heard of this connection, but there are several papers online about it. You can search for "cardio-esophageal reflex" (not reflUx). It's also spelled "cardio-oesophageal reflex." Another term is "linked angina."

I discovered my allergy with the help of my allergist, who had me keep a food journal and then do "challenge testing." When I had my list of foods I did some searches and came up with what linked all my long list of foods together - They all contain sulfite.

I have been diagnosed with gastritis. I tried Nexium and all the other acid reducing meds with little improvement . Just read that pure coconut water helps to heal gastritis so I am using that...It is a coconut water (not milk) blended with a bit of pineapple juice.....so far it is very soothing. Here's hoping.
