Hello again
Have posted earlier that my OH is awaiting a full wrap for a giant hernia (stomach fully in chest) First surgeon wanted it done rapidly to avoid stangulation , but then retired having not set things in motion. A second surgeon is quite blaze about whether or not it strangulates or not, saying if it happens before the operation ( Beg Nov) , pain will tell him to come straight to hospital where they will put a tube down to release the stomach pressure, and then proceed to normal wrap. He is dismissive of strangulation being a problem as long as OH comes straight into hospital if it occurs.
May I ask if any of you have had paraoesophagal hernias which have strangulated - whether you knew straight away and whether it caused any problems you wouldnt normally have had after the op?
I would also like to ask if drinking alcohol is a problem after this operation . My OH has always drunk quite a lot nightly. Spirits and wine. (But has never had reflux acid) Many thanks.
