Today was the first time in almost a year I've had a slice of pizza - it was like heaven until about
20 minutes later. I didn't have acid reflux, however, had stomach cramps and a very uncomfortable sensation in my stomach. I'm still taking 1 Protonix daily right now until I see my Dr again this week. Tuesday will be exactly one month after my fundoplication so I've slowly been able to eat more variety but been very cautious to chew alot and eat slowly. Been eating alot of vienna sausage and easily digestible foods. Still having daily bouts of needing Immodium and have to stay close to a restroom. I think I'm finally starting to feel somewhat better but I'm just too impatient and want to feel "normal" again. Just wondered if anyone else had stomach upset but not really severe acid problems after this surgery.

Hi Catlady,
So glad to hear you're feeling better! Keep in mind that just a little less than four weeks ago, your insides were mixed up with a beater. Your stomach was pulled up and around your esophagus and stitched there.
A slice of pizza is a lot of food. Your stomach is complaining! Next time, try a little pizza, and later, a little more, etc. Also, if it had spicy toppings, it could be irritating to your still healing stomach. It'll take a while before it gets used to its new configuration. It will...just be patient!
So glad you're enjoying real food! Just take it easy, and you'll be just fine.
It's normal!
Best wishes,
Denise

I can understand the need to feel "normal" again. I still don't feel completely healed yet from my gallbladder issues. (My gallbladder was removed in June this year) but I do feel a lot better. It's very hard to be paitent particulary when you see others merrily eating and drinking whatever they like without a care.
We will get there I'm sure!
