Things are getting somewhat better as I had my Nissen Sept 7 but am afraid to eat at all. I've lost almost 30lbs since surgery and no matter what I eat, I have a constant gurgly stomach with constant gas. I've changed my diet at suggestion from Dr, this forum, everyone I've talked to - nothing has helped. Reduced portion, increased portion - tried absolutely every gas reducing medication over the counter and absolutely nothing is helping. I'm going to contact my Dr as it's making it impossible to work and extremely uncomfortable and I spend a good part of every day in the bathroom. No matter what I eat, it goes straight through me and wish I could quit eating altogether. I eat at this point only to keep from being hungry. The swelling of my wrap has gone down so hungry more often and tried to reduce all the gas producing foods from my diet but nothing seems to help! I'm getting so desperate.
The taste of food has changed and nothing really tastes good anymore and wish I didn't have to be bothered with eating at all. I'm the thinnest I've been in years but I can't enjoy it, my stomach hurts and feels so uncomfortable anytime I eat anything. If I don't eat, then I'm hungry. The first couple bites taste OK - had Chinese this last weekend which didn't tear my stomach up like it did before surgery but I'm full so soon and then 20 minutes later, I'm miserable. I wonder if there is a prescription medication that would dissipate the gas more effectively or if this sensation will pass?
