Hello, I am new to this particular "room" I am usually in the panic/anxiety, anyway I have been taking Nexium 40mg and tonight I had the worst pain in my lower chest, well I guess it is where I would have a gall bladder attack if I had a gall bladder but I had it removed 2years ago. Since then I have had bad acid reflux and my doctor had out me on Nexium 40mg, I have been taking it for 3 weeks now and about the only thing I can see different is I don't have as bad indigestion as Iused to have,but I have this pain that I get after every meal and it hurts when I take a deep breath right under my rib cage, like where my diaphram is, I have been trying to look up information on the internet, and hiatis hernia isthe only thing that makes any sense.
Anyone have this issue, if so please reply so I can compaire.

Most people with hiatal hernias don't have any symptoms, but if it's a big one or if it's paraesophageal, you could. It could also be heart or other things causing the pain, so you need to see a doctor about it. Can you go to a gastroenterologist?

yes,I went to the ER tonight and the doctor told me it was just my acid reflux and he gave me amixture of malox, gaviscon and something else they call a "pink lady" it numbed my throat and worked for like 30mins, then he gave me busicopan it the "pinklady" doesn't work, I just took the busicopan 30mins ago, I'll let you know if it works

Hi grady! Nexium didn't work well for me either. I'd ask for a different med. Also, you could be getting pain from overeating. Try eating less and see if the pain goes away. Good luck!

Stormienite, thanks for replying, I haven't eaten anything really except oatmeal, yougart and toast and I have only been drinking water, no coffee!!!!! Have a pounding head right now, but if it will make this pain go away, I'll try anything.
I was going to go back to the ER today, but I had to wait to see if another girl would work for me tonight, and it turns out she couldn't so I am at work right now, the pain is still here, like not as bad but I notice it every once and a while. The pain kida feels as though it is kind of moving up to right between my "boobs"! Kinda scares me but I keep telling myself that it's not my heart,but I do plan on going back to the ER as I can't get into see my Doctor until Friday Oct 29.

I've felt that pain before. It's a very scary feeling isn't? That is a definite sign of acid reflux. Have you ever tried baking soda and water? Sometimes when I felt the gas burning in that area I would mix me up a small glass of baking soda and water and gulp it down. You usually wind up doing several large belches, but nine times out of 10 you will get some relief.

Thank you, something I haven't tried yet, but sounds like it would def. work. I will try it, I will try just about anything right now. I went to my family doctor today and he upped my nexium to twice or three times a day depending on how bad it seemed, but only for fast relief until the pain subsides. I feel a bit better today after seeing my doctor. I also got blood work done as a few girls I work suggested H Pylori. Guess we'll see.
