Same story here. Progressively bad symptoms, sometimes worse than before. Something is definitely better but the symptoms are really scaring the ***t out of me. It's been over 4 months now and I still feel exact symptoms of reflux: chest tightness and burning, nausea, coughing, food taste lingering in the mouth, morning sickness. Eating relieves it for a while. PPI's don't seem to make any difference. Did a barium swallow and the thing looks very tight according to the doctor. A had to drink almost two cups of barium and two cups of water and also to do that tilted upside down. The verdict: not a drop comes back, esophagus is a llittle jerky pushing stuff back and forth and there is stasis at the bottom where the food sits and probably ferments causing the burn.
NExt step - HIDA scan, because my surgeon either wants to rule out the gallbladder or make more money on another surgery
The difference in symptoms is the following: while I had the same burning and nausea before the surgery they just got less or more but never disappeared completely. While now I might have a terrible burn and tightness with sweating and runny nose and then after eating something or drinking warm water, everything is gone completely leaving me relieved but scared and dumbfounded.
Next step would be EGD but he doesn't want to do it until 6 months to let it heal and settle more.
Thanks for sharing everyone!
Oh, yeah and what's scary is we have a member here going for here 3rd surgery and her barium swallow and 24ph monitoring and manometry were okay! only EGD showed damage!
