Dexilant (Kapidex)

I tried it and it did nothing but the only med that helped me was Aciphex. Dexilant time released so you only take one a day. Kapidex isn't new, they just changed the name to Dexilant. I'd give it a try.

I have been taking Kapidex for about 7 months. I have no side effects at all. I suffer from severe acid reflux and have found it is helping. If you do not have severe acid reflux, this med should help. Insurance is another issue. I am fortunate to have insurance through my union and I have complete coverage for all medications. Talk to your doctor or maybe try to get in on case studies.

Is it me or does it seem like most of these meds cause panic and anxiety? I find that the ones that i have tried, prevacid, zantac and the one I take now, zegerid all cause some symptoms of anxiety for me. I need the meds but don't need to be more nervous that is for sure.

All I know is that my panic/anxiety was under control somewhat until I started having to take these meds for reflux/acid control. I have to believe that it is related somehow.

Michelle, did you ask for the zoloft or did your doctor just recommend/prescribe it for you? My doctor knows my situation well and hasn't offered any alternative such as zoloft and I think it might help quite a bit, even just a low dose.

Aciphex is what worked best for me. I am trying dexilant now since I have been back in Prilosec for a year and things have gotten way worse above my wrap. Looks like I might be seeing the Barretts specialist in Chicago sooner than I thought.

My doctor gave me some samples and this morning i took it for the first time.
I was hesistant due to side affects but most of the ppi's have similar side affects.

Ive taken prevacid. Worked well but after 3 years it stopped working for me.
Ive taken omeprazole (prilosec) worked pretty good

Nexium worked well but i had diarrhea for the first two weeks and random cases of headaches
For the past 5 months ive taken pantoprazol(Protonix) with not much success

So im hoping dexilant(60mg) does the trick

now that you mention the anxieity after taking prevacid... my anxiety problem began around the time i was taking prevacid.
I wonder how high the correlation is between ppi's and anxiety.

I havent looked into the price but i assume its expensive! i dont have insurance so my parents always pay full price. I am a full time student and theres no way i can work with so much medical issues im going through right now.

We all need better healthcare.

For me, Protonix gave me insane hunger pains.  Aciphex did the same but not anywhere as bad.  If I took the Aciphex first thing in the A.M., then the hunger pains would kick in around 7 or 8 pm at night.  If I took the pills later on in the day, then the pains kicked in during the middle of the night.  Now my Dr gave me samples of Dexilant and i'm hoping I'm okay with these, today is day #1 for the Dex.

If medicine doesn't help then you need to consider having the surgery.

My daughter just started taking Dexilant 3 days ago (she's 11). She'd been having awful belly pain for months. For the last month we've had her on OTC Prilosec 2x/day but she was still mostly miserable. Today she was so excited because for the first time in as long as she can remember she had no pain all day. It seems to be a very effective med for her!

She has also noticed that she feels very energetic. She's always been fairly hyperactive anyway, and she suggested maybe she's so energetic because she feels good, but after reading all these posts I wonder if its the drug!

The copay for me was $60, less than I used to pay for Nexium. I'm willing to pay, though, if it does work for her.

On the other hand, I have a sneaking suspicion that her stomach pain is hormonally related and she's just cycling out of it right now, only to have it return in 3 weeks. She hasn't started menstruating yet, but that is clearly in the near term schedule for her. I guess we'll see if in 3 weeks she has pain, and if it's less than it was this past week. During this last bout of discomfort there were no days that she ate breakfast, few that she ate lunch and she'd pick at her dinner.

I took Nexium for 2 months...seemed to help with the chest discomfort and back pain. Still had throat burn and felt bad. Then I tried prilosec for 2 months. It kept me in the same place as Nexium....still had throat burn and cough after meals. Finally tried dexilant. Took that for little over 3 weeks. Didn't see any improvement so I stopped taking that too. I never had bad side effects from any of them but just felt tired and they caused constipation...which I'm STILL dealing with!...and I have been off of all meds for a 2 months now. I still have some burning and little cough after meals but I'm going the natural route. Going to try to do this with diet and supplements. The meds help many people. Good luck to you!
