Hello Everyone

 I have been suffering with intolerable pain in my left jaw and tongue for 12 yrs. My first ENT had been treating me for Trigeminal Neuralogia for 10 of those years with Gabbapentin 800 mg 4 times a day, I got to where I could not remember anything it destoyed my eye sight my life was suffering in every way, I finely went to another town to see a different Doctor and he sent me to my current ENT who scoped my throat and told me I had the worst Reflux he has ever seen now I take Nexium every day,as long as I take this the pain is gone but if I go about a week without the pain returns, but am looking for a more natural treatment I would appreciate any suggestions

Welcome to Healing Well! You are definitely in the right place! (And you're among many other dog-lovers!) I am so glad that you got a second opinion on your condition! Do you have a good GI doc?

I hate to say it, but from my experience, if you have reflux that bad, it's unlikely that natural methods are going to work. You can try them, but it's likely that your LES is pretty wide open. I've been to lots of docs (including an ENT who scoped me),and they have pretty good handle on whose reflux is severe. You can be sure that your ENT has seen lots of severe reflux, and if he thinks yours is the worst ever, you have to act pretty aggressively to get relief.

If you don't have a great GI doc, it would be a good time to get one. It would provide you with more information about your options.

The pain you feel when you don't take the Nexium is from the acid burning your esophagus lining. That's big trouble! Stay on the medication regularly. Get things under control before you start experimenting with "natural" remedies. Some medical problems just can't be treated with anything but medications, no matter how much we wish we could rid our bodies of the drugs, and it sounds like your acid reflux is pretty severe.
