Need Help - Medical terms

dysphagia- swallowing difficulty
odynophagia- pain when swallowing
I found the other is related to Crohns disease (segmental discontinuous granularity, friability, erythema and erosion of the mucosa with contact bleeding noted in the antrum)

To anyone who has read this posting - If this is indeed related to Crohns Disease, should your doctor let you know about it? There has been nothing said about this at all from my doctor of which has me quite upset. Going online about this, my color pictures of my upper endoscopy do show some of the same views as shown in this disease as seen by my eyesight. I do have food rejection and the urge to vomit right after i eat. I also have some bowel problems associated with this, but see no bleeding. loose stools - some weight gain, bloating and gas, lower pain around the belt line associated with this. From my post on 3/08/11, i copied this from my medical release reports from my GI doctor word for word. From going online to learn about this disease, there is no cure, depending on how bad it is. Surgery and medications do not seem to help it at all. So, if this is indeed the problem, just how bad can this get and what does one do to correct the problem if it can be corrected??? Please respond any help shall be appreciated. Thanks bob PS no skin sores or rashes of any type seen on my body associated with this disease.

Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea and even malnutrition.

The inflammation caused by Crohn's disease often spreads deep into the layers of affected bowel tissue. Like ulcerative colitis, another common IBD, Crohn's disease can be both painful and debilitating and sometimes may lead to life-threatening complications.

Did you GI mention to you that you may have Crohn's or do an endoscopy ? 

We have a great forum all about Crohn's so you may want to read through or ask the members of that forum for info.  Also do not be afraid to expect you Dr. to explain the findings of your scope.

Greyghost, the only thing I would suggest is to ask your doctor straight out- "do I have crohn's?"

Denise and Joy: Thanks for your replies. The medical words used in my GI doctors upper endoscopy exam as i made reference to 0n 3/08/11 at 8:11 am is what i have questions about and some say it points to Crohns Disease. I really have no idea as to what he meant in his exam on me and that is why i made my post online to try to get an understanding as to what he was talking about. (need help - medical terms) Your right in saying that I need someone to help translate these result findings for me. Joy, I shall never go back to this doctor, as he is the person responsible for all of my problems at this time. Thanks again for your help. bob

Hello Denise: Thanks again for your reply. My new female doctor who did my last upper endoscopy in 1/2011, gave me color pictures of the exam, but never any written information as to what she saw, tests that were done written letters to her requesting this information, have gone unanswered. She refuses to put this in writing as she is going up against a fellow doctor friend of hers and according to the person who drove me to the hospital and back, she only said she did not like what she saw. So, i have no idea at all as to what this means. The restricted letter sent to her office has yet to be picked up by her for some unknown reason. So needless to say, i am still in the dark as to what is going on inside of me. Thanks Denise take care bob

I have a husband with a 34 history of Crohn's and 4 major surgeries.

Endoscopic tests of the upper or lower GI tract can confirm Crohn's disease, locate areas of the intestine that are affected by the disease, and obtain tissue samples needed for biopsies and further examination.

The Dr. who performed the procedure is your attending physician during the scope and is required to give you a detailed written explanation.  If not, I would call the clinic, outpatient day care and request the written outcome of your procedure as well as some one to explain in layman's terms what the scope indicated.

Denise and kitt: Thanks again for your posts. I am at a point in my life as to where i just do not know what else to do about my problem. The worse part, is that my condition is not getting any better, as the food rejection - vomiting is becoming more severe and i am at wits end over this. To have a major operation to CORRECT stomach problems, I now wish that it had never been done - for yes, i had a lot of acid reflux and pain associated with this, but this is a lot worse than that and i am quite scared as to what is taking place inside of me. Not having the support of my new doctor, does not help in this matter and refusing to get any information from her on my last upper endoscopy done by her, really has me upset. Just to give me color pictures of her exam and NO WRITTEN statement of what she saw and of any tissue samples taken - i really do not understand as i need this information to be able to get a understanding of just what is wrong. This is the problem of a small mountain town of Asheville,NC and not being able to find quality doctors within this area. The same is with the hospital - just one big hospital for all of western NC.
