Just because their the head of the hospital doesn't mean their the best in this surgery.
I'd stay away from the one who did the first, second, and fourth, seriously!

Where you faithful in following the diet and restricted activities during the healing? No lifting or exercise for six weeks? Then slowly add things until you reach the three month mark?
Did you stick to liquids for three weeks, followed by slowly adding more and more solid foods leaving steak and bread last?

I was very faithful. Liquid diet for 3 months any thing that could go through a straw I could eat. Done this diet four times. That means 1 year out of the last 6. Awful. After my 2nd surgery, I would vomit all my food up 30 minutes after I would swallow it. This went on for 5 months. They finally figured out that I have Gastroparesis. Got on Reglen and had terrible side affects. Now I'm on Domparidone. It helps. When I had my 4th surgery, my stomach was stuck inside my chest. After each of my surgeries I was put on 3 month liquid diet. Then slowly introduce very tiny bites for the next 3 months. I didn't have a BM for 2 months. Major stomach cramps. Told I had chronic constipation. I now only go once a week. Every time I eat I feel like i'm having contractions. Or a volcano is trying to erupt. I try and only eat at night. The rest of the day I drink herbal tea, protein shakes (but, some of them make me sick), soup, and I juice my veggies and fruit. I live on Juicing. Then for dinner I eat very little, and about an hour after dinner I take pain meds cuz I'm in so much pain. This has been my life for six years.

Welcome to Healing Well! I'm glad you've joined us, but very sad that you've had so many problems. I have one suggestion. Is it possible for you to get to one of the big clinics--Mayo, Johns Hopkins, Cleveland Clinic? It seems like Surgeon 1 or Surgeon 2 should be left behind, and you need to find an different and more experienced (in this particular surgery) surgeon. A Nissen Fundoplication is a very specialized procedure, and it is a bit of an art form. It takes hundreds if not thousands of procedures to get the knack, and it seems like no matter how good the surgeons you've had, they're obviously not good enough for you.

Also, being on a liquid diet for 3 months after surgery is extreme.
I had the surgery in February 2009, and was on liquids for one day (in the hospital), on soft foods for 5 days, then went right to any solid food that can be chewed to liquid.

Granted, there are several members here who were on liquids as long as 3 or for weeks, but not 3 MONTHS! Each surgeon is different, and have different eating protocols, but seriously, that seems extreme, and very old fashioned.

I really hope you can find relief, and get feeling better. The centers I mentioned specialize in difficult cases like yours. I don't know where you live, or if it's possible for you to get to one of these places (I'm sure there are others like it that I didn't list).

Both of my Doctors told me to wait the three months. I have a new friend and she did the wrap. She had to be put on a feeding tube for seven months because her Esophagus was to small. She has to go in every month and get it stretched so she can swallow. She had her's a year ago last December. When I was on Reglan my hands and feet would tingle and go numb. You can get Domparidone from Canada.

Both my Nissen diets were as Denise's.Liquids for a couple days and then anything you could chew to a liquid or tolerate.
my self I would be looking for answers else where. I went to a surgeon who mainly specializes in fixing others 'nissen mistakes. Been good to go since 5/09.
