After a ct with contrast...conclusion...severe gerd. Sent me home with some pain medicine. Hurting pretty bad. Didn't kinow gerd could get this bad.

I am sorry to read of your severe pain.  What is your follow up plan, see your GI physician ?  I hope you are able to get rest tonight and that tomorrow will be a better day.

I haven't slept well all week, pain wakes me up constantly. I am suppose to see my GI dr in 3 days but I am looking for a new one. I am gonna call the ENT that wanted to do the PH test in July and see if we can do it now. It just hurts so much. I think the gastroparesis has something to do with it too. I took 8mg of zofran this morning and it did nothing, then the pain just got out of control. The Er dr. said it could be neuropathy pain from my gallbladder surgery...anyone ever heard of that? She did mention that maybe it was time to get a surgical consult but said that the surgery could make things worse? How is that?

I want so bad for the pain to go away. Gonna be a long night I'm afraid.

I hope your pain has subsided and you can get some sleep tonight. I'm very sorry to hear you are having so much trouble.

Thank Denise. the pain medicine helped and I was able to sleep all night but woke up to some pain and nausea already. been rough.

IF you want help you should really give more detail. If it is gerd then its not going to go away overnight as the tissue has been gradually irritated over time most likely and now it will need time to heal. Diet ,sleep in a angled position are my best advice. Try to make any drugs a temporary solution.

Thanks couchtater. Today is pretty bad. Had a fruit smoothie for breakfast and it hasn't settled to well with my stomach. I did rest better last night, thanks. May have to take some pain medicine this morning. I just hate that this whole this has gotten so bad. I really can't have surgery right now. Gonna work on losing some weight to see if that will help. Sticking to a liquid diet too.

Hi Sheila,
Have you tried creamy puddings or (my favorite) egg custard? I had flare-ups before my surgery that (I'm sorry to tell you) lasted months and ended up with up to 20 pounds lost. That type of irritation takes a long time to heal.

I remember not being able to eat much at all without pain. Even a spoonful could hurt. I did find, however, that I could tolerate egg custard pretty well. It's high in protein and pretty healthy. I made my own. Recipes abound on the internet.
