Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm 27 and am 6 days post op from having the nissen fundoplication surgery. I got the surgery in hopes to cure my LPR symptoms. I tend to worry a lot and thought it to be beneficial to talk with other people who are going through the same thing I am. So far the liquid diet has made me lose 5 pounds, haven't needed my pain meds for a few days now, was constipated for the first couple of days and now have loose stools. My belly makes lots of gurgling noises also. Are the loose stools normal after having this surgery and how long should it last?

Katgriff, please keep us updated every once in a while. I have LPR and might be getting the surgery in the next 6 months. Thanks.

Thank you everyone for the welcoming. I'm worried that I won't ever want to eat again. Today I've become nauseous, is this normal? And how long will it take to go away?

Your doctor should of sent you home with some anti-nausea meds. If not call his office and ask for some right away. Throwing up this early is not good for the wrap.

WELCOME... I am 9 weeks post surgery, mine included NF for gerd and a hiatal hernia repair too. I had all of the issues that you are stating.. but once I went on a soft diet at 3 weeks( broiled/baked fish was first then progressed to some well done pasta etc) it settled down. Losing weight is almost inevitable when you can only drink your meals. I have lost quite a bit but I could afford to lose it... I must say that I am so much better than I was before my surgery.

Please, if you feel overwhelmed or depressed or any of the other many emotions that you may feel during this relatively long recovery, come talk to the wonderful, warm caring and knowledgeable people on this forum.. they will always be here for you and will answer your questions to the best of their ability.. I would not be where I am in my recovery without their kind words and support.
I know that there may be some glitches in recovery.. nothing serious just a "hic-cup". I have been through a few and Couchtater, Dencha and stkitt will always be there with a supportive comment or some good advice. If you encounter a situation that you are unsure of but you don't feel that it needs to be asked of your surgeon, come here and ask.. someone will have an answer for you..
Stick around and become one of the family.. everyone here is great..
Take care and "listen to your body" it will tell you what to do or not to do.
