You know more that Joy and I do about EVERYTHING ELSE! You are a wealth of knowledge, and provide tons of information (not to mention loving support) to everyone who visits. You just happened to not have had a Nissen!

Where one is lacking the others can fill in the hole. ;)

I've got a little more energy right now. I figured I was starting up a new flare yesterday and this morning I woke up with my lovely rash all over my face.
My sister has been doing some research on AI and found out that trauma to the body can set off the disease. I'm wondering if my GERD surgery set off my AI?

I hope everyone is doing well and is enjoying their weekend.

Was that me not to long ago complaining about the cold weather ???

We have the hottest temp in the US today - 103 degrees. 

I am sitting inside with air conditioning on.  People from Las Vegas are booking flights to MN to fry eggs on the sidewalks.  smhair smhair

I am doing much better on weaning off this medication and I thank you for all you caring and concern.

Joy, Sorry about the dang rash.  I believe stress to your body can play a role in AI.  You take care of yourself...........that is an order from MN.

I hope your energy continues...your stress level should go down now that school is out. I hope you can kick back and relax. Give your body a chance to revive from the end of the year push. I know how hard that is.

I went into my son's room today. He had me entering his reading scores onto the form and filing reading test results into his folders. After that I helped him with some computer work, then started cleaning out his supply closet. What a mess! I brought a bunch of plastic fish tubs to help him organize his stuff. They work like drawers on the shelves, and take better advantage of space. I forgot my mask, so I hope I don't get my asthma going. So far so good.

I'm changing allergists. I haven't met my new one yet, but the one I went to was gone the entire month of MAY...an allergist gone the month of May? REALLY? He was very smart, but a bit too flighty for me. He's probably at least 65, but I think he has ADHD...he'd decide on one course of action and within the next 15 minutes change his mind 3 times. I just didn't communicate well with him.

That's one of the problems of moving to a new place...FINDING DOCTORS!

I got all my test results back ($900+ worth of bloodwork--thankfully I have insurance). While they didn't give me any details, they sent me the results and told me that they all came back normal. I had them sent to my 2 PCP's (one here and one where I used to live) and they're probably going to be perplexed as to why anyone would order so many!) Oh well...

We're never satisfied...too cold...too hot...The past couple of days the weather has been absolutely perfect in our neck of the woods. Warm and sunny with a nice cool breeze off of Lake Ontario. I wish we could keep that weather all summer! Heck, all year! (And I'm a snow lover...actually I'll take the snow...at least there are no allergies in the winter! It's a nice break.)

I'm glad to hear that you're managing better with this med weaning. Best wishes for continued good luck.

I would say more like 3 Angels or beacons of light at the end of the tunnel. You guys are really great in all that you do here on this forum offering hope and support. I know I really appreciate it.

Hey, I got my Rheumatologist report today!
He said my inflamatory report is normal, but he believes I still have a mild form of Lupus. :P
I'm now on special medications for the inflamations and pains. Took the first pills tonight. The doctor said I won't feel any improvements for two months because it has to build up in my system.
I've now started getting migraines. :(

Kitt, It got up to 93 degress today! At least the humidity was only 33% so it wasn't too bad. I'm glad you're doing well with the weaning. I don't understand why they put you on something and then take it away a few months later. I hope they find one you can stay on.

Denise, finding a new doctor is such a chore. Shame on you for forgetting your dust mask. Tsk-tsk! I hope it doesn't affect you. I spent the last day of post-planning cleaning my messy closets, too. It's amazing how it can get that way.

Hi all...one more day and we're home. Can't wait! 6 weeks is way too long. We ended up changing our route and drove through MN, if I had known maybe I could have seen you Kitt.
I'm happy to say the body behaved until last Sunday, but sleeping on a futon at Tom's Brother & SIL caused it..that and sitting in the car for 6 to 10 hours a day...so, lidoderm patches, pain meds and stretching are getting me through.
The spasms are back and a nerve spl. I decided to see in SF is definitely leaning toward a vagus nerve injury that would have occurred when I got the flu (and its joyful physical accoutrements) after the Nissen.
Other stuff too, but those are the highlights.

Well it's been a busy couple of days. Saw the new GI on Wednesday and had the solid food gastric emptying test yesterday. This new GI thinks there is more going on than just reflux and that's probably why I'm having such a hard time with the meds. So he actually has tests he wants done to check on what else is going on. idea Welll that's a novel approach. Maybe the third docs the charm.

On another note, the Prevacid seems to be working more than 12 hours at a time, because when I did the test yesterday I had to eat w/o the benefit of the morning med and I did not get HB. The dose lasted me at least 18 hours!!!

Couchtater, Glad you found a new Rheumatolgist and got good news on your report. Sorry to hear of the migraines.

I'm glad you're almost home. Trips are wonderful, but 6 weeks is a LONG time. Home is going to look extra sweet! I'm glad to hear that you managed to get through most of the trip comfortably, but sorry that you're struggling now. I hope you get things straightened around very soon.

That darn vagus nerve can certainly cause a lot of trouble, can't it?
Feel better and stop back when you get yourself settled.

On the bright side your blood work didn't look all that bad, and you have a doc that can work on getting you feeling better. I'll bet you're looking forward to getting rid of all that inflammation.

It is great when you find a doc who really works at helping you. Glad the PPI's are working well.

I was at a retirement in our old town today, and we just got home. Pooped! My husband is hovering, wanting to get on the computer, so I've got to sign off.

MIA,  MIL very ill, on Morphine now.  I was at their home from 8:30 AM - 4:00 AM this morning.  Getting ready to go back.

Janice, Glad you're home. Road trips sure do take a lot out of you when you're ill. Rest up.

I'm doing better. The mobic (pain killer) is helping a lot with the headaches and painful joints. It still hurts but it's down to a level 1 instead of a three. I've got to wait 2 months before the planquiel kicks in full force. I still get tired but it's not quite as strong right now.
The planquiel sometimes gives me heartburn if I don't drink enough water with it. I think it gets stuck at the wrap. :(

Do the pills usually get stuck in the fundoplication wraps? Why can't one put them in apple sauce or something (or even within a banana bite or something) and then swallow to get the pills in?

PPI-LESS,

Some people have no problem swallowing pills. I can take normal sized pills, but very large ones get stuck. Yes, if you are taking a capsule--even a timed-released one--you can put it in applesauce, but don't chew it before swallowing--just kind of "mouth it". I take liquid calcium and flaxseed oil, because those pills are humungous.

It's a caplet shape. It has to be swallowed whole and not dissolved. :(
The box has a warning to drink a full glass of water and eat a small meal with it. :/
I guess it has to be coated to prevent trouble?

I'm glad that at least you're on something that is helping your pain, and something that will hopefully help your other symptoms.

Did you discuss the possibility of other formulations of the caplet? The way I get around it often, is ask for a lower dose (smaller tablet) but a script for double the amount.

I would be worth checking.
