Heartburn 4 1/2 weeks post Esophyx TIF. Thoughts on Reglan?

Sophie, I have been taking Reglan for about a year 10mg twice a day along with Dexilant. No side effects from the Reglan. It is very inexpensive as compared to some of the newer drugs. I have tried not taking the Reglan and am miserable, especially at night. Dexilant was the last hope for me and my ins. would not allow me to have it twice a day.

I am hoping after I have my Nissen on Wed. of this week, I won't need any of these meds again as I have taken all of the meds for Reflux for the last 20 years. It sounds like though, that many people still need something after having this surgery. Who knows?

The TIF does indeed sounds wonderful compared to the nissen, but according to my doctor the results don't speak so wonderfully. I've had the TIF done and I feel worse off. The doctor I'm currently with says he doesn't perform the TIF because he said that the stitches have been known to come undone and that the long term results aren't impressive.

He recommends the Nissen because the results show the surgery is more reliable and the long term for the operation is better. I'd recommend thinking about what surgery long and hard before you get it. What seems to be the common theme going around is that If you have moderate reflux and Little to no hernia, the TIF maybe acceptable. If you have a Large Hiatal hernia and severe reflux, the nissen would be the way to go.

Oh yes, and no special diet after the LINX procedure; however, you can never get an MRI done though once you have the LINX procedure done since you will have permanent magnets in your body.
