Dearest Kitt,
There are no words to express how much I feel for you at this moment.. I know your heartache. The only comfort I can try to give you is that the pain will go away but the wonderful memories of your MIL will not. I will be sending Hugz and Healing prayers to you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I cry with you my friend...... :-(

Don't you wonder at times like this what they would do if it was them laying in that bed in pain.... :-(

Wonder some times why they call them "practicing physicians"... this is why..

do you have an option with your original surgeon???

Oh poooey... Well when life hands you lemons.. dag gone it.. make lemonade. Only problem is... lemonade is bad for the acid......
I truly wish there was something to say that would make this better for you.. I will be praying they come up with something to help you..

Kitt, I'm sorry to hear your news. It's such a difficult mixture of relief and grief at this stage. Please be comforted by all your supporters on here, and by the fact that your MIL knew you loved her very much and appreciated all that you did. We'll be thinking of you.

Hi Y'all-
Well to day may be the last day I am on for a while. They have decided that I "may " have microscopic esophagitis and don't want do the repair until it's gone. so they are going to send me home. I think it's a way of saying they don't want to tackle a redo here, Even the nurses are scratching there heads about this. As long as my LES is open there will be esophagitis until they close the hole. My past shows I have extremely high amounts of acid that isn't controlled by meds alone. Not even with carafate added. They have these records, but are giving me they multi doctor double talk and then put it off to " i can see you are angry now, so we will discuss it later". darn straight I'm angry, you have known for several days what the problem is and refuse to do anything about it. Except to say we will look at possible repairing when the esophagitis is gone. Then another GI doc comes in and says there is no esophagitis visible. So I asked what's the hold up? He makes a phone call and comes back to say" I.m sorry they think there might be microscopic esophagitis and have to wait for it to clear up".
I wish they would just come right out and say it" we don't want to do redos here" Sorry, I am just really frustrated this morning. And to top it all off all the nurses can't understand what their hold up is either. and most have been here when they said it.
I still haven't heard from my surgeon at Loyola either. I heard when I was sent here he wasn't too happy they dilated my and then tore it, but I told the GI doc not to touch the wrap as per him and they only dilated the stricture 5 or 6 cm above the wrap. I feel I am going to have to go on a new surgeon hunt for this one and it's not gonna be easy.

Since my internet is off at home still I want to say I will be thinking of everyone and missing everyone. I will try to hit a wifi spot once in a while and check in.

It's me again......seems the over anxious jump to conclusion me has come through. My surgeon stopped by and spoke humanese to me today. He said it's more of letting the esophagus heal before doing any more surgery that isn't emergency. Seems the hole was still there, but just last week finally filled in all the way and is now officially healing. He wants to wait 4 to 6 weeks before he repairs the Nissen. He asked if I had good results with the nissen. I told oh yeah, it was perfect and I only had issues very seldom when I ate something that threw my stomach into a fit. He wants me to come back in 4 to 6 weeks.
I have just been given my anxiety meds as of yesterday and also my bp meds, My bp went from 160s-180s over 105 to 126 down to 138 over 80s to low 90s. in one day. I tried telling them I needed my meds.

Only one day on my anxiety isn't enough to get me calmed all the way down and I tend to get very short fused between the pain and the what ifs. Michelle finally made it down yesterday and I pretty much have slept all day and night yesterday. Still so incredibly tireed. I had more sleep in the last 24 hours than the last 2 weeks.
I must apologize now for me not being on here as much as I want and need to be after I am discharged. I will make an effort to go to our library and use the wifi there to keep in touch. If I don't I feel I am letting everyone down. Kitt needs a break, she goes way above and beyond and is so valuable I could never possibly put into words how much. Kitt, please remember through thick and thin you are very loved and appreciated here. ((((hugs)))))

Joy and Denise even though you don't have the "official" title of moderator, you 2 do such a wonderful job you should be. I again have to ask that you take my spot and help our beloved Kitt if you can. I see so many people follow your lead when they get comfy here and start to welcome new members without even being asked to. I think this is one of the reasons this is a top notch forum here at Healingwell. I am proud as a strutting rooster watching this forum mature and grow. I am sure Peter is proud of this one as well as all of them. We just seem to keep out the ones who are only looking to cause drama. I thank all of you for that.

Janice- I hope all goes well and I get to hear you are done with surgeries and back to being you again. Remember you are missed and loved her by all. you are a great friend.

I now have to decide what to get done come 4 to 6 weeks. I am due to have a spinal cord stimulator trial Aug. 26th and that is right at the 4 week mark. I don't know if they would do the Nissen if I am in the middle of an scs trial. I think I will go with the Nissen first. I can get nerve blocks as needed to help with the nerve damage.

Since he put it in plain English it all makes sense to me know, why don't they do that from the start? Well This is getting way to long. I appologize for being so long winded, and for anyone who read it all God bless you.

Hey All, sorry I have been away so long but life just got busy after my daughter and boyfriend along with cat and dog moved in. I haven't had a chance to go back and read all that's been going on but it looks like you have all been real busy too. I've been dealing with my usual pain issues. The doc wanted to do surgery to replace the joint in my toe and scrape out my knees but I declined. Had enough of the surgery stuff plus can't afford it either. I've also been busy with my granddaughter here for 5 weeks(our house is so quiet now) and wrapping up my accident issues. Nice to have that behind me. I've been to the doc more than once for swelling in my legs(especially the right one). They think it is from the anemia which is from the long term use of Plavix and possibly the stomach meds. So just have to deal with it since I can't quit taking the meds and I can't take the iron tablets or the multivitamin because of stomach issues. We also had the funeral of my grandma and memorial for a dear friend at work.

Kitt so sorry about your MIL. I'm sure she was really blessed to have such a wonderful daughter in law.

Bill, I can't believe you are going through all these trials again. You have had way more than your fair share of health problems. I'm keeping you in in my prayers and will get you on the prayer chain too.

Joy, I have had problems swallowing pills since I had my surgery and was told I will unless I have it loosened but then run the risk of more reflux coming up. I have to drink a lot of water and it also helps push the pills down if I eat something. Hope you find some relief.

Well I am off to swim at my aunts cottage and then to see my brother in laws band play at the bar and grill in Waupaca. I am off and running. I'll be thinking of all of you and keeping you in my prayers.

Please don't think you have to answer EVERY post. That can wear you out. If you can answer some and just make sure everyone is playing by the rules, like we have much problems with that. You and Denise are great to have as backups. Thank you.

I am finally getting discharged now. Just waiting for the paper work. I have to come back to see the surgeon in 2 weeks and GI said ti follow up with my regular GI. Well I am in search for a regular GI after my little "incident". Probably start seeing one of the older docs at the practice. He is the son of my old GI doc and since he retired and owns the business most of his patients just switched to his son, but he's inexperienced.

A quick note..
Hi to everyone; it has been a long time Barb!, and it's amazing how swamped everyone is. Bill, dear friend, such a journey you've been on; You've been blessed with Michelle, as I have with Tom..what we do without them?
My easy-breezy surgery turned out to be anything but; still on pain meds, and sleeping a lot. Still hurts like hell to take a deep breath, but I don't look so sick today, more color in my face, so I'm hoping I'm turning a corner.
Still a wonderful group of friends here, watching each others backs and helping to shoulder our issues..to everyone: This week WILL be great for all!!

Hi all-
you will never guess where I am......ok I'll tell ya. I'm still in the hospital. Got all ready to leave....wait let me back up. I had been waiting all day for the GI doctor to release me. My surgeon had turned me over to GI since the hole filled in and now it's just a bad wrap issues. Well the GI doc is off and the on call is a donkey's butt. So at 6pm my nurse, who is awesome I might add, came in and asked if we saw the GI doc. Nope not us. she said that is the only hold up is him writing scripts and signing me out. So she asked other nurses and they said he was here at 3pm. Noe she is also pissed at him. Calls him and he says it up to the attending to do all that. Well seems he didn't get the message GI had taken over my case the other day.
So now she is trying to get the PA to find out how to write my scripts. She says just have them come by the office in the morning and pick it up. Nurse says no way they live 100 miles away. They would have to drive 1.5 hrs tonight and 3 hours tomorrow. Of course they want me on percocet and it has to be a hand written script no faxes or phone ins. She asked if we could use hyrocodone instead and she said no way he's had too much dilaudid to jump down that much or he will have withdrawls. So after several attempts to get someone here to write it to no avail my surgeon calls and says to make him stay the night and he will write them in the morning. I don't think he was very happy the GI doc didn't check with me or Courtney my nurse to see what needed to be done. He told her when she called him that he didn't have anything new so he didn't stop by.
I have to say the nurses here are fantastic. always looking out for their patients. I couldn't have been in better hands. They were even confused with what the different docs were saying because they each had different dx. Like the right hand wasn't talking to the left. Once my surgeon explained we have to wait 4 to 6 weeks before we mess with the esophagus again it was easy to understand. If they wuld have said that 2 days ago there would have been no confusion.
It was her idea to have me stay, but unfortunately they had already pulled the PICC line before they found out the doctors drop the ball. So now if I continue to itch I have to take oral benedryl and it doesn't work nearly as good.
I can't believe how much better I rest when Michelle is here. I guess it's because I feel looked after and protected and can let my guard down to really rest.Janice, your are right, what would we ever do without Tom and Michelle. I feel sorry for people I see in these places without family support. I did make her stay home all last week because she was sick and needed her rest.

Feels weird to be stuck here, but wearing my street clothes and no IV. No lease to drag around.

You never fail to hold onto your sense of humor in the face of disappointment.  Also, thank you for the nice comment re nurses.  I am sure the Dr. feels bad that things got mixed up. 

It is so good to hear someone say how much they appreciate their spouse as well.........you and Michelle make a great team.
