Thank you thank you! I don't know about the rest of you but I want a refund on my body.
So I called the linx people. No new info,but I emailed them anyway to see if I can get a better answer. Maybe the linx will be approved in 4 weeks!

Hello all here is an update. I'm improving!!!! I have had two weeks of freedom from gerd, but today it is back, but not so bad. I no longer need carafate (but i may have to take it today) My breathing problems are almost completely resolved and I'm starting to be weened off of the pulmicort only one puff every other day. I hardly regurgitate maybe only 2-3 times a day and at night only about 3 times a week. I can even sleep on my side now. My appetite is improving as my feeling of fullness is disappearing. I'm very happy and I feel the stretta is finally starting to work! However, I still have difficulty swallowing and my throat still hurts but not like it used to. I'm having an impedence test next week and I guess that will give us the true answer

Good to hear that, I hope you lose GERD for ever and no more reflux, I wish I can do the procedure

I'm in the middle of my impedance test--a very long 24 hours--but it's not unbearable. I'll have the results next week. Keeping my fingers crossed that i'm doing good. Besides the sore throat and difficulty swallowing and sometimes painful swallowing and sometimes trouble breathing I feel pretty good. I guess that sounds weird but considering how bad it used to be, I feel very blessed right now. However, I don't want to live like this forever, so the results will let me know if I'm a good candidate for a future surgery--I"m hoping I can hold off until the linx comes out, or that I'll just keep improving (one can always hope). Well, it's just as realistic to hope for a positive outcome as a negative outcome since the future hasn't happened yet. I'm really scarred of the nissen, but if that's my best option I guess I have to get pumped for it.

Hello all,
I am so sorry that I have not posted for so long and left you all hanging. That was really rude of me. But let me fill you in. I got the results from the impedance test, and my results were absolutely normal. I had no reflux at all! Which was really weird because I still had the pain. I guess, since the esophagus is a "dumb"organ, it became hyper sensitive after being bombarded by stomach acid. Well I had an EGD to see what it looks like, and it showed only minor irritation. The pain gradually went away and 2 1/2 years later I'm doing fine. I have had another EGD and my esophagus looks normal (no barrett looking cells anymore either). I am due again for a follow up EGD this summer, so Ill keep you posted (if I remember). My asthma is gone and only resurfaces if I have a reflux episode, so yes I still reflux, but only if I eat bad food. So the stretta will not save you from bad eating habits. With it being so gradual, I can't say if it was my diet or the stretta that cured me, or if it was both, but I do know that the stretta will NOT give you the power to eat chocolate if that's what any of you are hoping for. However, I have put a few people on my GERD diet, and it has helped them without needed the stretta. But I am glad I got the stretta. It was painless (except for the after math--but I think it was the rantinidine that may have caused that, because it gave me "rebound reflux"). So my humble opinion is really clean up your diet first and then try the stretta if you still need it.

Its good to hear that your doing well after 2 1/2 years. So the Stretta didn't entirely rid you of GERD. Do you have to sleep on a wedge pillow.

Yesterday I had my first appointment with professor Bonavina in Milan (one of the key surgeons in the LINX trials) and I was surprised to find out he suggested I could try the Stretta procedure before the LINX. In his experience it would be a safe alternative to any kind of surgery in particular cases, such as mine, where the LES is only mildly dysfunctional and there is no hernia. Several patients of his gained great benefits from it. Although I still feel stronger about the LINX, I have high regard for Bonavina and I have no reason to believe he's not correct about the Stretta.

Hi veritas, I'm from Milan too, and I got my first visit with prof. Bonavina too in december. He told me about Stretta, and said for my problem the best option shold be Toupet. Now I'm gonna see him again and ask him the possible solutions for me.

Do you still happy with Stretta?

I have the same problem than you but I did a Nissen and is not working. I'm living in the hell since 2 years ago. All day with reflux and wheezing.

I heard you saiyng that Dr. Noar is the best performing Stretta. That's very interesting to know.

Also, for all of you, I'm investigate why the Nissen fundoplication fail but nobody know the exactly reason. But some gastroenterologist confirm me that is very very important the knowledge of the surgeon, and the best place in the world is the ClevelandClinic in Cleveland obviously.

Dr Kyle perry at The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio is absolutely phenomenal. The first time I met him he spent almost 2 hours talking to me about my history and procedures. He has a wonderful bedside manner as we'll.

My son is 14 and has had reflux since he was born. He has been on zantac and prilosec pretty much his whole life. I hadn't even heard of stretta or linx before a few days ago! I'm guessing Kaiser doesn't cover these procedures since his GERD dr hasn't mentioned these as an option. Does anybody know if Kaiser covers these procedures or not? I hate that my son has taken these meds his whole life yet am convinced that surgery is too extreme of a measure for him.

Thanks Jasmine8 for all your posts. I am really against having a Nissen and was happy when I learned about STRETTA. I will be asking my doctor about it and seeing if its a possibility for me.

It isn't necessarily done by a surgeon. Other kinds of doctors like GI also perform the procedure.
