Hope you're doing ok to-day. I'm pretty good thanks. Still having mainly good days & the occasional bad one! Ate a biscuit containing a lot of butter on Tuesday & my stomach did not like that at all!!! Serves me right, I don't eat butter anyway, so I should have known I wouldn't get away with it. No acid but felt v v nauseous. Toast for dinner that night! I'm taking 150mg Ranitidine at night for a while & intend to gradually reduce that to every other night till I feel I can stop them again. I feel confident that will work.

Torax medical has filed the application with the FDA but the FDA has not taken a decision on it yet. There is no timeline given by FDA on when will this decision be made.

Are you going for the fundoplication? Have you decided on the surgeon, type (partial or full), date and so on?

I struggle constantly with this decision.

Mine is a very peculiar case:
- Symptoms are not that bad .. so I can function ok (mild chest burning/ache, throat swallowing discomfort, bitter taste in the mouth etc.). Symptoms are worse during the day (afternoon). Nights are actually the best for me. However, these symptoms go up and down - sometimes better sometimes worse and do affect the quality of life. I used to have more LPR like symptoms before .. but now they are more GERD like symptoms.
- Can not take either the PPIs or H2s to get rid of the above symptoms (really bad side effects)
- Doing a lot of natural things and diet - but not sure if they are really helping (aloe-vera, dgl etc.)

From whatever I've read so far, it seems that this thing is not going to get better on its own and that these symptoms will always be there (although my GI assured me that he has seen patients for whom it has gone away and my ENT said the same thing). But in the absence of that miracle, the only way to control these symptoms in a somewhat permanent way is 1) medications 2) surgery. Since I can not do #1, the only permanent solution for me is #2.

Since my symptoms are not that bad, I'd like postpone this decision .. and if at all try to go for LINX instead of the fundoplication. Hoping, FDA clears LINX soon in the US here.

I recently been batting this struggle with GERD/Acid reflux for two months. For the first month I was in the denial stage, then I hit my low in the recent weeks, depression, anxiety, loss of sleep, etc.

My case came all of sudden...no food triggers and started with a mild chest pain. Went through all medications of PPIs and H2s, Tums, gaviscone, everything. Tried all home remedies as well ACV, aloe vera, etc.

I couldn't do Bravo test cause pain was too unbearable during the week off PPIs.

I'm currently on Prevacid 4x a day at 30mg. I know its a lot but doc wants to be sure it is acid reflux and this is a way of finding out without bravo.

At this you age, I really want to do surgery to help me condition. Today is not that bad, but usually, I feel acid coming up to my mouth, burning chest and tongue. And stomach feels a little burning.

Do you thing surgery would be for me? I also am really interested in this new tecnique called the LINX. Waiting for FDA approval though.

For past med history, I've been off an on all PPIs for the month of July and August, only recently been on Prevacid at this high dosage of 4x so doc says to wipe all symptoms and be sure it is acid reflux. He also has me on calcium supplements and polyethene glcol cause its hard to go sometimes.

Any feedback would much be appreciated!

ive been to see dr ashton in london about having the linx fitted but im worried now as feedback on here doesnt seem as positive as he suggested what are all your opinions of it? would really appreciate some feedback as will be spending my savings on this as in so much pain always and have 3 small children at home lifes tough and im looking for a good treatment for it many thanks
