Hi, I was wondering if anyone on the forum had gotten a wrap procedure done in Toronto? I'm about to start looking into it and was hoping to hear from someone who had found a good surgeon.

Welcome to Healing Well!  There is a member here, Cindy123, who lives in Toronto and had a Nissen.  She's taking a weekend vacation and I'm not sure she is checking online, but I'm sure next week she'll check in and see you were asking. 

Best wishes, and good luck finding a great surgeon.  It's and extremely important part of a successful Nissen.  As you obviously know, it doesn't just take a great surgeon, it takes one who is extremely experienced in the procedure itself.  Toronto is a large city, and I am sure there is someone there who has done many of these procedures.

Hi Grace, I'm in California. When I read Nissen wrap I wanted to reply. Usually you don't hear of to many knowing about this procedure. I had my stomach stapled for weight control and the ring kept getting clogged, had it cleaned out and clogging happened again but this time did damage inside where anything I ate was coming up on its own even through my nostrils. So Dr. repaired inside and did the Nissen Wrap. It helped wonders BUT if you get sick and have to throw up 'you cant'. You can dry heave but that's about it. Just wanted to give heads up. I suffer from daily chronic migraines {maybe cervicogenic or Berre-Leiou syndrome????} So when my head is at its worst dry heaving is no party. Good luck finding a doc.

Hi Grace, I live in Toronto and had the nissen wrap January 31, 2011. I had it done at Toronto East General Hospital. The surgeon's name is Jamie Cyriac. He is a wonderful guy. He mentioned to me that he does hundreds of these per year. The recovery takes a while but everyday gets better. If you want to get a hold of me, let me know. It might be easier to talk on the phone.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Thanks for sharing your story, Aans, I'd heard about the throwing up thing already and am keeping it in mind, but I'm happy to hear the surgery seems to have generally improved your situation. It's also reassuring to hear since I'm looking into it for myself.

I've been looking through your postings, outtllaw, it's useful to see what you went through, thanks for sharing it. Would you mind letting me know which hospital you went to?

Hi Grace,

I recommend that you remove your email from the body of your post.  There can be trouble with spammers getting your email off sites like these.  Just tell Cindy to click on the envelope at the left of your post, and your email will automatically open up.  When you provide your email in your profile like you have, only members can see it, so you won't have any problem with spammers.
