To answer your questions,
Yes it hurts when food gets stuck!! I think it is the gentle reminder to eat slower and chew better. The pain goes away when the food either goes down or comes back up.
If it can't go down, yes it comes back up. Thankfully you do get a warning.
The learning process teaches you how to eat again. There are some foods that I avoid, sticky types. Other than the ones I have learned to be careful of I pretty much eat anything I want.

I want to remind everyone that this procedure was a perfect fit for me. It may not work for everyone and only you and your Doctor can answer that question. I have a GREAT Doctor and he has made a tremendous difference. As I have mentioned I'm in the trials for the full 5 years now and will keep you informed as I move forward. I have a Dr. appt soon to discuss the endoscopy I just had and will let you know how I did. Keep smiling. Shooz

Hi everyone,
Here is an update on my Linx.
I went to my Dr. a couple of weeks ago for a follow to my latest endoscopy. The bad news is my hiatal hernia seems to be back and is about 1 cm in size. He will be keeping an eye on it and hopefully it won't get any bigger. No discussion of what happens if it does. Everything else about the Linx is working fine. I haven't had a bout of reflux since surgery on 9/09. I tried to stay off the ppi for the month of September but just went back on it after talking with my Dr. I was having heart burn while eating that was starting to increase somewhat. Overall the pictures from my endoscopy looked good. I'm somewhat disappointed with the return of the burn, overall I'm still very happy with the Linx. They are gathering information from the 2 year point at this time and hopefully some of the info will be made public. So it's status quo at this time. I hope everyone is doing well. Stay healthy. Hi everyone,
To all that have the Linx a question for you. I seem to be experiencing a new experience, when I drink something cold especially with ice my Linx seems to freeze up and cause me problems swallowing. Anyone else have this problem. Shooz

I dunno if this is the case but cold does effect magnets making them stronger, though it could just a physiological response.

Hi Shooz,

Me too!!!!! I'm not a fan of icy cold liquid, but if I have a Smoothie or similar straight from the fridge, it causes a very strange sensation round the implant area & it feels like everything has frozen for a few seconds. Then like you say, it feels like I can't swallow. I find it's ok as long as I take small sips at a time.

Hope the problems with your Hernia aren't getting any worse & you're continuing to do well.

I'm ok except for stomach wind which causes me all sorts of discomfort. Overall though I'm a lot better off than I was.

I read that you have had the linx system operation in the uk. I am considering it and also live in the uk and I was wondering if you could tell me the price of the procedure?

MSAT - Hi, How are you. In response to the price query, you're looking at the best part of £9,000. That includes everything including Consultant appointments with Dr. Ashton. That's what it cost me anyway. I believe that some Private Health Insurance will cover it, but obviously anyone interested would have to check with their own provider. The Healthier Weight Clinic would be best placed to give you all the information you might need.

i know you are in the uk and not italy...but just for a comparison i thought this might be interesting

i have read in this report that in milano italy they are charging around 3000 euros as of last july...anyones guess as to current cost

I have read through all the posts on LINX and I was wondering if you are now pretty much symptom free. I really don't want to have a nissen fundoplication if possible because of some of the stories I've read but similarly there are quite a few bad ones about Esophyx and LINX which just confuses things even more.

The reason I asked about price was because I was quoted £9000 by them but on the website there are numerous stories saying that the price is £5500. When I queried this I was told this was misquoted but I thought it seemed a bit perculiar that such disparate articles all quoted this price.
