I have been on Nexium for about 3.5 months because my regular doc thought it was GERD. I had a Hida Scan last week and I was told by my doctor's nurse that the ejection fraction was only 9% so I have to have my gallbladder removed. Question 1: If I have my gallbladder removed, will some of the GERD symptoms go away (indigestion, belching, reflux)? Question 2: I don't have any pains in my right side, what would happen if I didn't have my gallbladder removed and just ate a lowfat diet? I have never had an issue with diarrhea, and I'm so scared if I have my gallbladder out that I will have diarrhea for the rest of my life. My mom had hers out 20 years ago and has had this problem ever since she had the surgery. She won't travel anywhere because of this.

Welcome to Healing Well!  yeah yeah You're definitely in the right place.  Unfortunately, I don't have any experience in gallbladder problems and surgery, so I don't think I can help you with your problem.  That said, I can assure you that many here have had gallbladder issues, and I'm sure others will be by soon to weigh in on the issue and try to help you.

I did have my gallbladder removed and have dealt with the bile induced D off and on ever since. I can't say it would help your GERD symptoms. It didn't help mine at all, but I had the horrible pains from gallbladder attacks.

I would express your concerns to our doctor about diet and waiting on surgery.

When I had my gallbladder out the doctor said that bout 10% of the people have diarrhea after the surgery. There are medicines that will absorb the bile salts and stop the diarrhea. My mother also suffers from diarrhea after having her gallbladder out but refuses to take the medicine. I have not had that problem.
