Sean,
Thanks for replying.
I was actually going to write to you after seeing your post in another topic - Diet.
Despite a cleared EGD, I am still paranoid about the lump in the throat sensation. Just cannot understand where the sensation comes from when my throat is not inflammed. Is it really food stucked?
Hopefully, my next appointment with a new GI doctor will help.
Good morning. I had very similar swallowing issues which caused me considerable stress. What worked for me was finding Dr. Jamie Koufman's book, "Dropping Acid". Fortunately, I live close to NYC and eventually became one of her patients.
After reviewing my original doctor's lab report which indicated I had Barrett's Esophagus, she retested me. Unlike my original procedure which took place under sedation and in a hospital, Dr K. performed a Transnasal Esophagoscopy/biopsy in her office while I was awake and sitting in a comfortable chair. Guess what? I never had Barrett's. Under Dr. K's care, I no longer take PPIs and don't have those "food sticking" moments any longer.
It would be worth you reading some of Dr. K's pioneering work (she actually coined the term "silent reflux" as an example), some of which you can see for free on her blog at The Voice Institute of NY site. She also has some informative YouTube videos.
Hope this helps. Best of luck in your search for answers.
