i hear you, that it is very tough to give up some of the foods we love...chocolate was the worst sacrifice for me...and beer (carbonation)
but please let me tell you that it is a top priority for those with GERD to maintain a list of "trigger foods" foods that from experience are more than likely to increase reflux incidents
everybody's list is a little different but most of us have about
a half dozen or more foods that we share in common that can not be...should not be eaten
common trigger foods are chocolate, carbonated beverages onions garlic tomatoes all kinds of mint , fatty foods (because they take a long time to digest) and big meals of any kind aggravate reflux
in my opinion controlling diet is one of the most important things you can and must do, to help yourself in dealing with this awful condition
(followed by sleeping on an incline...head and torso elevated... not just more pillows under your head !)
