Dear LPR Sufferers, What Would You Do?

Hey LPR sufferers,

I haven't been on in some time because I have started to feel better and cut down to one PPI. I started seeing a chiropractor twice a week who found a bunch of problems with my spine and also uses electric acupuncture and his treatment really seemed to be working. However, a few days ago I was hit with my second cold in one month and have a terrible productive and non-productive cough. I am now worried that I may be experiencing reflux symptoms again but don't want to double back up on prevacid unless I absolutely have to because it took me so long to cut down to one. I am just frustrated because it is difficult to differentiate the cause of my symptoms.

Would you guys double back up or wait for the cold to pass?

Thanks so much for your response. I have had two major LPR flare-ups so far, and both times I experienced a dry throat clear and dry cough. Every time I would try to cough or throat clear, nothing would come up and felt like I was just irritating the tissues in my throat so it was very uncomfortable. Now that I have a URI, I have a productive and non-proudctive cough (the latter reminding me of my reflux cough) which is why I am worried because I cannot tell if this is just caused by the URI or not and I don't want to start on a double dose of meds again unless I absolutely have to =( sooo frustrating..... Also with this URI, I clear my throat like twice a day but it is also unproductive...

My chiropractor found that I had several issues with my spine, particularly disc c6 was misaligned as well as some discs in my neck. Interestingly, he expained that that part of my back is directly connected to stomach issues. Furthermore, he uses electric acupuncture to treat my nerves, as he also believes my vagus nerve is involved in my LPR. Before I started seeing him, I cut down to one PPI but was having rebound symptoms. However, after a few times I was surprised because I wasn't experiencing any LPR symptoms at all (except for belching, which has decreased.) However, I now have a URI and some of the coughs felt a little too familiar and made my worry that I might be refluxing. For now I will stay on one PPI until the cold passes and will bump back up to two if the reflux-like symptoms do not go away.
