Is it normal

To be suffering with heartburn after 50 hours ??

I had a bad flare up on friday evening and its 2am monday morning and ive still got it :-(.

Ended up in hospital again on friday night but the doctors refused me morphine which normally sorts the pains out immediately.

Had enough now - have only slept 5 hours since friday :-(

Hi Matt --

You don't offer any other details, or indications that you have been diagnosed with GERD...so I won't assume anything.

If someone were to have a feeling of heartburn that long, and they were diagnosed with GERD, I would say that there is an erosion of some sort...perhaps just through the mucous lining of the esophagus...that's causing a chronic pain. Just like a scrape on your skin that you keep putting salt on.

So...the doctors did nothing for you?

Apologies for delays in coming back to you all.

Well they put a drip in my arm with paracetomal, this didnt touch it, then given tramadol again didnt touch me, then gave me gaviscon which was a waste of time.

Sunday was still suffering so started taking cocodamol which has now upset my stomach.

Hardly eaten or drunk anything since friday, still have the pain in one spot below my breastbone, bowels all in pieces and my tummy area just feels very warm :-(

I suffer with gerd and am waiting for a gallbladder op.
