Day 25 post op,
Hey guys, well some good news and bad news.
The bad news.....I still have a burning sensation in my throat and mouth.....it does seem to vary in intensity.
I think the problem with me is that I'm trying to compare my situation now to how I was at 100% not pre op. I think I would consider the surgery successful from pre op as the I had stomach pains as well as my throat and mouth pains. The stomach pains improved which to me is great and I'm waiting for the throat/mouth to come around.
The good news is that I started work last Friday and I've been more productive in the past week than I ever been. I believe I'm able to focus more on work and not so much on my symptoms. Even my boss complimented how great I did this past week for someone who just came out of surgery. The past year I've been missing lots of days of work seeing doctors and taking sick leave. I could barely concentrate at work sometimes.
Diet wise, I'm doing ok. I probably can eat more solid foods but I'm still sticking to soft foods. I ate tofu recently and it tasted like a steak lol. I'm getting tired of soups haha. I'm also excercising lightly. Mainly with bands and will walk/jog. The bands are great. They don't put too much strain on the body and I still feel like I get a decent work out. Free weights felt the best but for now, the bands will do.
The incisions have healed nicely. The scars from the 5 incisions are minimal a little dark but is fading. I barely have any pain in my stomach.
I never got nauseous and rarely get gas bloating issues.
I lost a total of 16 pounds since surgery which is great.
The loss of weight was fast initially but slowly is tapering off.
If my throat/mouth can heal and get better, I will consider the surgery 100% success. I know this is area takes a while to heal, even my ENT said so.
I'm not on any PPIs as they really never helped me....so no pills at the moment. I'll keep you all updated and please keep your fingers crossed for me ok ;)
Anyways, I'm staying positive although it's hard. Maybe in another month I'll see even greater improvements ;).....let's hope.
